Do you believe in ghosts and spirits?

  1. I know this question would probably be better in October but I just watched a show called Hauntings on the A&E network. It was about Gettysburg, PA and the hauntings surrounding the town and the battlefield. We were in Gettysburg a few years ago and went on one of the ghost walks. Very interesting. I do believe there are some unexplained happenings in Gettysburg and other places where lots of emotional energy was spent.

If you believe in ghosts, have you ever seen one? Did it scare the bejeebers out of you or were you fascinated by it?

At one of the nursing homes I worked at years ago there was a door alarm that would sound in the back dining room late at night. We would go to make sure none of the residents were trying to leave and everyone would be accounted for in their rooms. But the door would alarm a couple of times almost every night....strange....

I do believe that there are many things that are unexplained. Just because we can not see something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

There was a period of time that there were some very strange happenings going on. I never actually saw anything, but once a light switch flipped on while my back was turned. I actually heard it and of course the light came on. My friend was there at the time and got really spooked by it. Many other things happened over a 2-3 year period that I still can't explain. I'm just glad that it has not happened in a very long time.

I don't even know why I'm writing this because I usually don't tell anyone about it. I'm usually afraid that people will think I'm a few fries short of a happy meal!

Hey...I believe you...I've seen/heard some weird stuff...one incident in particular...I was a kid and I had been given my great-grandmother's wallet with photos in it (she had passed away a few years earlier). There was a photo that I didn't recognize. I was holding it in my hand and walking down the hallway calling out to my mom as I walked, "Hey, Mom? who is this a picture of?" As I passed my brother's dark room (my brother was at a friend's house) I heard a female voice loud and clear say "It's Linda" (my aunt)...needless to say I RAN the rest of the way down the hall - my mom said I was "white as a ghost" (hahaha no pun intended). She looked at the photo and said "oh, that's Linda" I about passed out. I told her what happened - she believed me (phew!) I dont' like dark hallways very much.

I've heard a ton of stories about strange occurances when a patient is near death. Also stories about right after someone passes. There are plenty of stories out there!!!

I have had many experiences in my life that lead me to believe there is something that happens that we cannot explian, but I'm not certain what is is. When we first moved into our present home, which is over 100 years old, my daughter came down stairs in total panic, stating she saw a little girl with blonde hair go past her when she was using the computer. We have also heard little giggles and smelled cinnamon very strongly at times for no reason. We have had hanging plants fall from the ceiling for no reason, water goes cold then hot again, and at times our dogs will look at a certain spot and shake and growl. My daughter called us home from work one night because our Jack Russell kept sitting at the bottom of the steps, looking up the steps and growling. My daughter was terrified. That night I called out the little girl and for some reason I gave her the name of Tina. I told her she was welcome to stay but she had to stop scaring my daughter and the dogs, that it wasn't nice. Nothing has hapened since. Call me crazy, I cannot explain it, I just know that others have witnesssed the giggles and it is weird. I have often thought that someday I might research this old house to see if a little girl ever died here. I had the weirdest feeling that her name was Tina...........

Yup, lived in a haunted house...named him George...don`t know why....it fit....found out later that it could have been my MIL`s brother...named...George...Now my MIL was a very gifted lady...was Cherokee, and her mother had been a medicine woman...She saw spirits, and conversed with them...now I`m head blind, and when she first talked to what i percieved as thin air..was very strange, but ............sat there and watched her say goodbye to a friend...found out later in the day..he died just as she was talking to him...MVA, was in good health...and as she lived out of town...no phone....????

" George " would open doors, and leave them open..in the middle of the night, dead of winter..got kinda cold...kids were babies...wood heat...So I scolded him one night..." the babies are getting sick...you`re a ghost...you can go through doors...leave them shut"...never opened again, and stoves...3 never went out rest of winter, and often had fresh logs in them when I got up....

Grew up in an old house where you would frequently hear someone going up and down the steps. This is gonna sound nutty but on more than one occasion after I was grown and visiting my mom and dad with my hubby, we would spend the night in my old room. He would often go to bed before I did, when I came up to bed I would curl up around him. Soon afterward I would feel the mattress sag behind me as if someone sat down on the bed. A warm feeling would be around me as if someone were hugging me. My grandfather stayed with us for a while when he was dying of cancer, he actually died at the hospital, but I like to think it was him. We were very close and it hurt me very badly when he died, I was 8 or so and they didn't let kids go to funerals back then, so I didn't get to say goodbye.

I feel very safe here. Like I said nothing else has hapened since the night she scared my daughter nearly to death. I love my big old monster of a house. Would take more than that to chase me out of here. Besides, if she does exist, we have welcomed her as long as she's a good girl.

...I would have never gotten over the dog staring up the stairs and growling bit...

The house sounds lovely! We are actually looking at one built in 1924...any tips? Hopefully without ghosts...?

My hubby has seen a ghost before and my father used to see spirits when they died, they would come to see him. I have never seen one, but when I worked at the hospital I felt the presence of one on the floor and knew when it came and when it left.
