Disturbing drive home

  1. As I was driving home from work today I noticed a small child I guess about 6 or 7 walking up the ramp to the parkway where I live. I wasn't sure why none of the cars in front of me seemed to notice, but all I could think was, "This little boy is going to eventually walk unto the highway & get hit by a car" He wouldn't stand a chance! I dialed 911 & was told they were sending a police car to the scene because someone else had just called it in. This was just such a heartbreaking thing to see such a small child totally oblivous to impending danger. I don't have any children of my own yet, but I immediately thought of my little nephew who is about this boy's age.

I am sorry that this message is so garbled, but I just experienced real fear today. I can remember when I was small my mom came to pick me up from school everyday...even tho' she didn't have a car she walked 7 or 8 blocks to wait for me. Of course, she had the luxury of being a stay at home mom though, but even when she started working one of my older sisters came & walked me home. It's just so terrifying for me to think, what if oneday when I have children I am not able to be there for them? I have so much respect for all you working moms. I know for the most part you do what you have to do...

I just hate to think of anything happening to children.

I'm with you. there is so much trouble for kids to get into, even when they aren't looking for it. Mom's can't be there all the time and it scares most of us, I think. I have to just give it up and trust that God will take of my little one when I can't be there.
