Didn't get the job.... This really hurts

  1. The hospital never called me back as they promised. I had to call to find out that they are going with more experienced candidates. This hurts big time guys. I'm not gonna lie to you. This job was THE ONE in my eyes. It was gonna be the lynchpin to turn everything around. I don't know where I go from here. I really don't. I can't go back to LTC, because I'm so burnt out with it and it depresses me to no end. I want to work in a hospital so very bad. I want to get in on the acute care side of things, and this would hace been a perfect fit for me. Oh well, I guess I'm just not good enough huh? This just confirms it for me. I swear I feel like packing my bags, turning in my license and walking on down the road. I'm gonna retreat for awhile and not talk to anybody. Don't misunderstand me guys, I love ALL of you very very much, and you've stuck by me thru thick and thin, but it's just when I hurt like this I must retreat and try to rebuild yet again. I'll be back. Don't worry about me. Your friend WW.

    WW,
So sorry. Please remember that there is a plan, we don't always know what it is, but someone bigger than you or I is running the show and things really do happen for a reason. I know it doesn't help to hear this right now so here is a big ((((HUG)))). Go recharge you batteries, this may be part of the plan. I'll add you to my prayer list tonight.

Heck, don't give up! Are there any other hospitals? Dr offices? Some schools hire LPNS ours has them along with RNs. There's a job for you out there Theresa, Don't give up so easily, and don't retreat. Keep your chin up girl. You worked hard for this. Of course there's always the option of returning to school for your RN.

Take care. Hope something even better comes along.

Do what you need to take care of yourself. Dust yourself off and carry on, you are Warrior Woman! (Get on the pity pot for a few minutes, then get right off!)

Don't just take NO for an answer. I'd call them weekly to see if postion filled yet, ask to meet with persons who interviewed you to see if they could offer pointers for next interview as you want to "be best candidate" etc. WHo turne you down, HR or Nurse Manager?. I would write a thank you for the interview note to Nurse Manager and let her know you are still interested if they find a candidate that falls through.

I've learned that a turn down can be a blessing too. REALLY
wanted to be Nurse Educator for our new computer implimentation program. They didn't want to pay any more money as "Temp 1 yr position" so I turned them down in March 02. AGONIZED but felt I was worth more and knew what BIG a job it was.

My manager resigned 7/1 and I applied and was selected--started 9/02. Now 3/03 I'm making 10,000 more than 1 year ago. The person they selected to be Educator---after 9 months was asked to become just Super user as inneffective in teaching a class of 10 but great 1 on 1.

    GOOD LUCK!

Don't isolate yourself! You have to uplift yourself and believe that you have the confidence that you need to get where and what you want.

When one door closes, another one opens... either that or someone left a window unlocked lol. There are other jobs, this is a nurses market, you just have to find the right one. You have lots of support here, we're all pulling for you
