Did you know that.........

  1. one out of every five people on earth lives in china???

we seriously need to start contemplating what this could mean to our america! a few lessons can go a long way toward demystifying this important part of the world.

perhaps we need to add anther foreign language to our education curriculum in america.......say beginning from kindergarten (if not preschool) through college graduation.

to begin studying chinese, log on to www.speaking-chinese.com

my husband and i sure plan to. i am going to recommend the chinese language website as an educational tool to my children so they can begin teaching chinese to their children as well. i just have a "feeling in my bones".....one of those gut feelings...you know....you get them at times, i'm sure......that china will become a lot more important to our future of the world than we want to acknowledge. america won't always be america......just a deep spiritual gut feeling i have.....hubby has the same feeling.....so do a lot of believers i know who know anything about the book of revelation in the bible.

    care to comment???

correctionokay.....so i put an "s" on the end of revelation when there isn't one. i assure you, pkmom, it was a simple "typo" and nothing more. thanks for "indirectly" pointing it out to me. the "s" has been removed!

    but I have read Revelation!

Ahhh! but where would you begin? You have and interesting idea cheerful!

China is a REALLY BIG place with MANY different dialects. That's a lot of languages to learn.

Still, it could be fun to try. Makes the world a little smaller and friendlier to become comfortable with another culture

A simple "Renee, there is no 'S' on the end of Revelation" would have sufficed nicely, and come across more kind....unless you didn't intend for it to come across nicely or kind, pkmom. Anyway....correction made in my first post. I hope God doesn't strike me dead for adding an "S" to Revelation "unawares".

I hope you can contribute to the conversation in spite of my ability to be human......and make typo errors.

Thank you, boggles, for your contribution to the topic. You are right. Learning about countries other than our own does make the world a little smaller, and hopefully by doing so, we will be brought closer together, lessening any fears we may have about other countries and their culture, and how they connect to ours.

I am hoping that there are members of Allnurses, or "lurkers" who have yet to post anything, who would share with us anything they might know about China.....especially if they happen to be from China, or currently living in China. I know that it's a beautiful country from photos I've seen posted on Allnurses before by someone from China. I would love the opportunity to interact with Chinese on this BB as they share their culture with us.

in regards to revelation chapters 2 and 3, they speak of the island of patmos and the seven churches of asia. here is a web site that depicts this. http://inspirationsbyswain.com/churches.htm

i have not read the entire book of revelation in a while. to be honest, i used to be afraid to until i was much older and knew this was the way to know for myself what revelation foretells.

however, renee, i am interested in knowing your reasoning for your "gut" feeling and make this a knowledgeable experience.

i do feel like you do about learning chinese, that all need to learn to speak spanish. as you know, there are many spanish speaking business owners, those who work side by side with many, and the likes.

i took 3 years of spanish in high school because i wanted to be abreast of different cultures and felt this was one way to do so.

umm...lpnfuturern....just a fair warning to you...you might be brought to the carpet by pkmom who will notice that you spelled revelation wrong. :chuckle

i also took spanish in high school, and conversational spanish since becoming a nurse. it was very helpful to me while working, and when we visited mexico and lived in the west where there are plenty of spanish speaking people to communicate with. i have forgotten a lot of what i learned since i didn't continue using the language much after my medical sabbatical from nursing went into effect, but agree it is a very important language to learn.

when revelation speaks of a country from the north as being the "antichrist" that comes, china is that country....biblically speaking. they have the power, the money, the population, the dictatorship, the military power and the military weapons to take over the world if they want. when i read revelation, it reeks of china being this country.

the good part of all this is there are people in china who have been spreading god's word for years now, and many people there have now become believers. there has been the "underground bible ministry" going into that country for years from what i have learned while attending various churches that support missions in that part of the world.

Oh my, Revelation(s), a deep and symbolic book....that l tend to avoid like the plague....hear me out...when l was about 9 or 10 yrs old, l went to a little country holiness church w/ my grandma...now mind you, the church l regularly attended had very simililar teachings...actually it was same in doctrine, maybe expressed a tad less enthusiasticly....anyway, an evangalist was preaching on the rapture and the 7 years of tribulation that was to follow....scared the holy bejeebers outa me....deeply affected me for years. l was in high school before l stopped having anxiety attacts whenever l was returning home from anywhere...scared that my mom and dad and family would be GONE! Now l just try to live my best everyday and hope l am good enough to go to heaven...l used to have dreames as a kid that Jesus came back and everyone around me was going up except me!...OMG...l lived in torment for soooo long......l am very interested in the inigma of this book and will follw this thread, l love hearing all the different interpretations out there....but pleeeez...no spooky stuff ....LR

l.rae.....(((((((hugs))))))) Yes...The Holy Book of Revelation is deep...more than anyone can swallow, I'm sure. I use to avoid it like the plague too, but as I get older, the more I desire to discern what Revelation says....if any human can.

I am very keenly aware that an "end times will come", and I believe the revelations of the Book of Revelation to be inspired by Almighty God. I'm no scholar...by any means...but I am willing to learn from anyone who desires to share their take on this awesome and spine-tingling book in the Holy Scriptures. From Genesis to Revelation...and everything in between is simply mind-boggling, soul inspiring, and spiritually deep to me.

I'm posting this thread to learn about what IS...and how China...if at all.....fits into "The End Times" according to this awesome and powerful last book of The Holy Bible. I know the Holy Bible speaks of the seven Asian Churches, but is China a part of the seven, or not??? I can only see China as being the one country powerful enough to overtake the world, which is why I want to learn so much about it.

For those of you reading the book 'Left Behind' and 'The Remnant'
...please feel free to share what tips you have come across in understanding this awesome point in history that has not been brought to fruition yet. I really really want to learn about this from as many of you as possible. Thanks for sharing! :kiss
