Did you have to work today?

  1. Just wondered how many of us had to work today? I worked 12-8 and have to go back tonight. The Family went to Maryland to "pig out," I stayed home to sleep so I can go back tonight. The "joys" of nursing! The good part is, I got out of cooking! YES............

Started my administrative job 4 weeks ago (Nurse Recruiter) and would have had today off. But offered to work in ICU today as staff nurse. So I worked 7-3. Had a good day; I'm glad I had opportunity to go in. I'd miss the fun too much if I couldn't ever go back .

Worked 7p-7a last night, slept from 8am-5pm, picked up kids from babysitter, transported them to parent's (so they could "enjoy" family meal), returned to work7p-7a again. Not a bad Thanksgiving, just wish I could have seen kids more.

The beautiful thing about working holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Seeing all the sick kids in the hospital, knowing mine are at home and well, reason to be thankful is always obvious.
Admitted this week alone: 2 brain tumors(10 &12yr old), GSW head neuro devestated(11yr old). Don't have to look far to KNOW what you have to be thankful for. Thank God.

    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I wish I had worked!! Great menu [potluck], great friends, parents bringing us goodies, football [No, we DIDN'T use the premies this year ], a lotta laughs.

Kewl, one of the nurses works every Thanksgiving, organizes the potluck just so that she DOESN'T have to deal w/her in-laws!

As it was, I'm off after working the last 2 days from hell, needed most of today to recover, my mother's in Hawaii w/ one sister, make that "seesta",the other sister's in VA w/ her husband, it's just me and Juan and the stupid cat. So we went out.

It WAS lotsa fun watching Denver spank Ryan Leaf and Dallas.

I'm scheduled Christmas Day, New Year's eve, and New Year's Day.

This year is a total bust as far as the Holidays are concerned. Hope yours aren't!!

I worked Thanksgiving 3-11, I just got home. We try not to do 12's on Holidays if it's possible. I cooked a turkey Wed. since my husband worked Thanksgiving too. It was just my husband and I, the kids were out and about. It was kinda nice.

I worked 3-11 yestersday. My day was kind of busy, but not the worst day I have ever had. Had a elderly lady pass away, but other than that the evening was pretty uneventful. Had a small dinner with my hubby and sons, plus my husband's parents. I am one of those weird people who actually like my inlaws! My husband's family's Thanksgiving is on Sunday, so we will be over at my inlaws. My parents are 300 miles away, so I just talked to them on the phone for the holiday. My Mom and sister had a big fight the night before Thanksgiving, so I am glad I wasn't there to be caught in the middle.

Two years ago when I was a floor nurse I worked Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and Easter Sunday. I am thankful this year for my new job. I was off Thanksgiving Day and am off today. God bless you all who work so hard instead of spending time with your families! AND those who work so hard so they can AVOID their families--lol.

There was so much peace and quiet at my house that I over slept and was an hour late for work. I woke up to, "Mom, don't you work tonight?" Yeah, what time is it? " It's 10:45!" WHAAAAAAAAT???????????? HOLY SH**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know you're not supposed to say those things to your kids, but remember...I was half asleep.............Then proceeded to call and tell them I'd be about an hour late! So much for peace and quiet...
