Designer Purse Rental

  1. This is what happens when you're waiting for Jeopardy! to come on.

Yep, that's right. Apparently you can rent designer handbags, the same kinds that celebrities buy, at some place called Bag, Borrow, or Steal.

One bag's rental for a month was $175. I've never spent $175 on a purse in my life. I've never spent $50 on a "bag".

I must be one of the few in the free word that thinks that thousands of dollars for a purse is just stupid.

(And what's up with "the latest bags" being the size of duffel bags? I see so many people in this area in their early 20's, carrying purses THAT big. What in the WORLD would people need to pack in that thing for a trip to the mall? Although it is quite humerous, if i'm not in a hurry, to stand in a line and watch them dig and dig to find their money to pay for something)

My goodness.....what a waste of money. I buy the $9.95 Wal-Mart basic purse....I guess it's a matter of priorities. I know a lot of people I've talked to from southern California (well, all two I know who are from there, anyway) say that prestiege and stuff are the most important priorities for many people who live there. Hmmmm.....of course some people would say I had screwy priorities because I buy Wal-Mart purses, live in a trailer and prefer to spend money on traveling.

The bigger the purse, the more you find to put in it. I think that's a rule someplace. Actually, I get my "bags" at Wal Mart. I can't afford to be so stupid with the little money I've got. I wouldn't even know a designer bag from a cheapo bag. My bag's contents (or lack thereof) make me humble at heart. :chuckle

Yeah, we all need a purse that equals our car payment x3. If that isn't a sign of someone who has more money than sense I don't know what.
Of course this is from teh girl who buys all her clothes on clearance racks.
I shop at nice stores, but ONLY on the clearance racks.

Doesn't matter - even if I were to rent a purse ANY purse I carry quickly takes on the dimensions of the TARDIS - bigger on the inside than on the outside with items vanishing into the the depths only to resurface in a different time and place.

(Okay - so Dr Who is back on TV over here)

I don't carry a duffel bag size purse.....but I do carry one that doubles as a diaper bag. (I'm a single Mom)
Usually, before I go out on the very occasional date, I'll swap out diapers, wipes, and animal crackers for a makeup bag and a small brush. Well, I am in a constant state of "rush"...always running around trying not to be late. The other night, my boyfriend and I were at a pretty nice restaurant when I looked down in my open bag and saw Pampers and a rubber duck. I hope no one else saw that and thought.....Hmmm...kinky.

But getting back to designer bags...sorry got off topic..... I know of someone that spent $100 on a FAKE LV!! So if you think paying all that for a "real" bag is asinine...........
(for the record, I get "moderate priced" bags at TJmaxx...I never spend over 20 or 30)

But like my Grandma used to say...."A fool and his money........."

I just got my current "bag" from Kmart on clearance for $4. And it's servicable, goodlooking and just roomy enough. I have never understood the purse thing either. Why have more than one purse anyway? Who wants to constantly change all your stuff over from purse to purse? I can MAYBE understand having, like, a black one and a brown one and maybe a white one, but dozens of purses like I've seen people have? Not for me!

lol....i paid $6 for my last purse. I think I paid $20 for one once....

Have a co-worker with a designer purse fetish....lol....she has a new one, can hold a tube of lipstick and little else....looks like an eyeglass case on a strap!!

I have a SHOE fetish!! None are 'designer'...why pay $300 for one pair of shoes when I can buy LOTS of pairs for that amount??!!

The rental is ridiculous! I have several Vera Bradley bags. I only splurge on purses. I don't buy expensive shoes or clothes, but I like to have a nice bag. I guess I'm a bit of a purse snob as I'd rather not carry than carry a cheap one. Not sure where this issue developed from.

I think I read in a magazine once that the large bags actually make a person look thinner, and this is why the celebrities all carry large bags. It's not to lug stuff around in - it's to look skinny.

Now that i think of it, the big spluge i have is shoes for work, really.

Well, that, and a nice formal dress when Matt has one of those snob knobbing networking crapfest receptions.

I find it ridiculous as well. I won't pay more than 30 dollars for a purse and that better be an AWESOME purse if i shell out 30 bucks! I will take advantage of other peoples stupidity and pick up designer bags at goodwill and other thrift stores for cheap prices and put them up on ebAY. Always make a nice profit.

So... I'm confused. Do you like going to those receptions or not! lol

I love outlet shopping and clearance prices. I like nice things, but I want them at a bargain price. I love Old Navy because they have great sale prices.

I hate going to those things. I have nothing in common with the wives, since i'm not having an affair with the tennis instructor, nor do i spend my days in the salon or shopping.
