*******That being said, when my stepfather found out this guy was a JW he said that he had been neighbors with JW before and that he knew alot about them. He told me that if they can't succeed in converting people they exclude themselves from non-JW. He said Brandon (that's his name) would try to convert Britney and her family and if he couldn't convert her family he would turn her against them*******

Let me start off by saying I am not one of Jehovahs Witnessess, but I do live with family members who are. So I can say that this is a very incorrect statement by your stepfather. It sounds like Bryan is "off his rocker" and Britney might have been taking a little too much drugs. But it has nothing to do with him being a JW. That is not their beliefs. Is Britney a JW? They usually do not marry outside their religion. So just because he professes to be a JW doesnt mean he is. I feel very badly for the baby though. Please do not think this sad situation was about religion. The boy has problems, thats all. And I was not at all offended by your post, I hope I didnt come off that way.

I have to agree with Dez on this one. I am not Jehovah Witness either, but I don't think the religion is the problem here - it's the people. Brandon and Britney need some serious help with substance abuse issues.
It is my personal opinion - please note I said MY PERSONAL OPINION that women who do drugs during pregnancy should be prosecuted for child abuse to the full extent of the law. Unfortunately, I don't know of a law that makes it illegal and punishable to knowingly and intentionally give harmful substances to a developing child.
Okay, stepping down from my little soapbox.

I'm a Pentecostal, and that sounds a little off the wall even for us, and not at all like the Jehovah's.

Psychotic episodes due to drug use?

Sounds like they are doing more than smoking dope... They see demons... definitely doing more than smoking pot! If it were me I'd be looking up info about the jw's on the net and maybe see if there's a board to go to for help? It sounds like the jw part is not the problem though...it's the drugs!
She checked herself in to the mental hospital... sounds like she knows there is a problem and wants help... why do you think she will try to kill you and your brother? did i miss something in your post?

I have a pt who is JW, and he does talk regularly of demons, and how he wishes I were more open-minded so he could save me from the time when the demons come and take over the world. I listen politely, until he really comes on strong, then I say, "I would love to stay and listen, but my next pt is waiting for me...."

How sad that she lost the baby. I don't know what kind of dope they were smoking, but marijuanna isn't really associated with horrible birth defects such as you describe, now if it was crack or something else, I'm not sure. My research on pot is based on readings I did over ten years ago, so I may stand corrected on that.

As far as the smoking dope...I don't know any true JW's who would use drugs, or even smoke cigarettes for that matter, that is likened to poisoning the temple of your body, if I am remembering correctly. MY pt has taught me a lot about his beliefs, most of it has sunken in by Osmosis, I am not JW myself, so I am getting only his interpretation of it. But he told me JW don't do drugs, ETOH, or smoke, so this guy must be into some other kind of cult.

Huh. Did y'all see that movie "Frailty" w/Matthew McConaughey and Dennis Quaid?

Not a JW, don't believe in demons.......but that movie sure does give you pause. Just thought I'd interject. Carry on.

    OH SH*T SHAY!!!!

Ya know, I've asked and asked and asked people if they've ever seen that movie, because I want so badly to talk to someone about how freakin weird I thought it was, and nobody I asked had even heard of it!!!

    Holy crap it was weird!

My mom works psych and I've posed this question to her numerous times. What if they really do hear the things they say they hear, and see the things they say they see? We label them and call them crazy, freaks. Give them some meds. But what if it's true?

Then she says I watch too much X-Files.

Nurse Ker-Ker - I agree with the other posters that drugs are the first problem here. I don't know a whole heck of alot about JW's, but he doesn't sound like a real one.

And, just to be careful, you may want to edit your original post a little. From the info you gave I could probably go find these people myself before morning, if I wanted to, which I don't, but there's some weird people out there.....

In the words of a wise woman.... carry on.....

I have to say as a pysch nurse I have seen it all.......... FRAILTY was a freaky movie.... it was very disturbing!!!! In regards to the JW issue... Many people cry religion to justify the evil they do. I am not a JW, but I have met people of this religion and I have not found them to be "demonic" I would say that your sister, from what you have said is suffering from a drug induced psychosis, or perhaps the truama of loosing her child from her own actions has caused a breakdown with psychotic features....In any case she is where she needs to be. If you are truly frightened of her and her husband, then you should err on the side of caution and see what recourse you have legally...IE a protective order, restraining order.....I wish you luck and hope things work out.
I would also agree with the other posters, there seems to be more than a little pot smokin' going on......

Dude, man....that movie was free-kay!!! We all just quietly walked out to the car afterward, trying to shake the heinous case of the willies we all had.

Makes ya think, don't it? What if all the 'crazy' people out there really AREN'T crazy???

My personal pet peeve is people who hide behind the bible to justify their own weirdo ways. That said, I agree with the above posts that is must be the drugs (probably more than she admits to) that are causing the demons. I am not familiar with JW's so I cant offer an opinion on that. Poor baby, how sad, hugs to you and your family.

a JW using drugs? Now that is highly unusual! I'm not JW, but know a few people who are, and they don't use anything stimilating, so no alcohol, no drugs, no nicotin. Every now and then a cup of decaf, but that's it. And they are really strict about this, as with a lot of other things. But that is another thread all together.
I can't imagine this whole problem coming from smoking dope. (Hell, Holland would be one big demons-place, without healthy children)
Probably other drugs or even mushrooms of a kind, they like to make these kind of hallucinationes.

Sorry for your family, take care, Renee
