Debralynn's Pity Party Has Left The Building!!!!

  1. UPDATE on my pity party I was having the other day! First, thanks for all the birthday wishes and kind words! They WERE appreciated!! Second, I toured the residential facility I am thinking about for my handicapped son. It wasn't so bad! Was told it would be AT LEAST a year or so before an opening would come up. But thats ok! I think my son Johnny would be ok there! He will be able to have a tv in his room, his toy trucks and cars in his room; also visited their workshop they have. He will be the youngest one there, but definately the tallest!(6'6")! He can call us anytime, and we can go and get him whenever we want. I believe he will have more activities there to do than at home. Including housework, and being more independent! I tend to do everything for him at home! Also, my ex gave my daughter some monies so she took me out to lunch for my birthday! It was nice, just the two of us! Sorry for being such a baby about all the self pity. But this too has passed for now! Thanks again!!!!:kiss

    Hey Debralynn,
Sounds like a great place. I know what you mean about doing everything for them. I'm VERY bad about that with Jacob. It's all I can do to let the child make toast! But I AM doing better! He makes me give him independence. He demands it!
Thank God for the rehab nurses or he would never have re-learned anything! They made me stop when I was trying to do something for him that he needed to be doing himself. It was so hard to watch him struggle for 5 minutes to put on a shirt, or to button his pants.

Happy Birthday! Sounds like a perfect birthday dinner! Just you and your girl!

    Glad you feel better today!
    Kim
