Dating Medical professionals

  1. I just got engaged to my long term boyfriend who happens to be a respiratory Therapist (we met at work). I was wondering how many nurses are dating or married to other medical professionals.
I have been dating my boyfriend since I first became a nurse. Is it easier to date someone in the profression?

I used to date Doctors. OMG. It doesn't work.
And it just makes things difficult when that doctor is working in the same unit. ARRGHHH.
But once he or her working in each different unit. Perfect, but is it perfect at home?.

I don't know because I never married one.

I married a pharmacist that I met at the hospital. So far it has worked out exceedingly well.
Since we are both in healthcare and work for the same company, we speak a common language.

I can see where a fellow medical professional might understand our weird work stories more, but I do love my little Dilbert (engineer.)

    Oh yeah!
I dated within the medical field but wouldn't trade my geeky guy for anything. There is just something about a man with a pocket protector.

I will admit there is a benefit to being involved with someone who has even a small amount of medical or A&P knowledge, you don't have to explain everything. Luckily my husband's ex-wife is also a nurse, he learned all the basics when she was in school.

My husband HATES anything that has to do with hospitals...needless to say, I don't get to talk about work at all unless I am really needing to talk (and even then it is a stretch to get him to listen without cringing...)
I work with a couple of people that are married or engaged. For most it works out ok...there are two couples in my unit where one spouse works days and one works nights. There is another couple that both works nights but one in my unit and one in ER...the only time that one is a problem is if the one from my unit gets floated to ER, where his wife is usually charge...well acutally he can't work there at all when she is charge due to hospital policy. I think that it would be neat to marry/date someone that really understands what we see, deal with regularly...a good person to bounce ideas off of etc...However, it is nice to get away from it at times too...

My wife is a nurse. It's very nice to bounce stuff off of someone who knows what you're talking about and where you're coming from. We work at different facilities...which i think is good. We both maintain our own 'work-world' away from each other.

    2cents...
