CURVES workout? Does it work?

  1. I need to get into a routine for exercising. I just am not able to get motivated by myself. Has anyone tried out Curves? Their website is pretty vague and I would like to know: Is it financially reasonable? Did you lose any weight? Is it fun?

    Thank you!!

I used to go to Curves, and it does work as long as you go at least 3 times a week. I was doing Curves along with going to Weight Watchers. While going to Curves I lost about 25 pounds and 50 inches off my whole body in about 4-5 months. I had already lost about 20 pounds with Weight Watchers alone, but Curves really helped to tone up and take off inches very quickly.

I signed up when they had a special on the sign up fee so it was only $49 instead of $149. And the monthly fee is $39. They have different specials throughout the year.

I had to quit because the hours were not convenient for me once I started taking some ROP classes at night. They are not open as many hours as a regular gym would be. Mine was open from 7am - 7pm M-F and 9am - 11am Sat, closed Sunday. But the longer the Curves is open, the more hours they are open. You should check with the locations around your area.

The workout is easy and fun, so if it fits your schedule and the fee sounds reasonable to you, I would go for it. It's not a high impact workout, so you don't feel completely exhausted afterwards, but it still gives you results.

p.s. try this website to see if there are coupons for any curves in your area
    http://www.moneymailer.com

I work for this company, and we do a lot of advertising for different Curves franchises. There might be a coupon there for one in your area.

I know alot of women who go to Curves, all who which have a hard time too staying motivated, but they love Curves' workout, and the fact it doesn't take long at all. They each have lost quite a bit of weight. I'm not a member of Curves, as I belong to a gym with my husband, so it's cheaper that way, but I've heard nothing but good things about Curves.

Thank you both for the info! Thanx Sierra for the website. I am going to check it out! I need to lose about 35 pounds. We want to have babies, but I need to lose this weight first!! Thankx again!

I was a member of Curves and loved, loved, loved it. I did see results (although slow) but it was something I could stick with, which says a lot.
Now I've moved >20 miles from Curves so I don't get to go anymore. Miss it. I have an elliptical trainer I use at home, but not the same.

I really enjoy Curves--no men and no bimbos, just real women who chit-chat and make the 30-40 minutes you're there whiz by. It's very fun and painless. Be sure to get a "travel card" so that when you travel, you can use another franchise. There are several in my area and I've been to a lot of them.

    Highly recommended!!!

I'm also thinking about joining Curves, I want to loose about 20#. Do most women really see results?
I like the fact that there are no guys & no Barbie dolls running around, just regular women like myself.

LOVED CURVES!!! Can't address the financial aspect because my pal owned the place -- got in free for manning the desk 2 a week -- great deal for me! We had a blast!!

The girls at work were going frequently in Jan., now they seemto have lost their motivation, they c/o hours of operation, esp. weekend hours. I don't go myself- have a bowflex and I'm underweight to begin with.

I've been going to Curves since December 2003. I've lost a little over 10 pounds and 19 inches since I started. I'm not on any special diet, just watching portion sizes and drinking lots of water. I am more toned up than I have been in years. After three kids, I needed to do something. I would highly recommend it to anyone who hates to exercise!

I go to a regular gym and see a personal trainer which has been great for me. No bimbos running around there except for me, There are guys there but they are pretty polite and don't oogle.

No personal experience with Curves but have a daughter and friend who love it. Weight loss has been slow but they are not strict with intake. Muscle tone and appearance has improved for both. They both love the women only sessions. Love the support. Hours of operation were not factors with either one of these ladies.

I didn't like it much. It really got monotonous after a few weeks. <shrug> I lost a lot of money on it cause I signed up for a year and only really went a few months.
