Confused about war?

  1. Ok call me stupid or maybe I just spend too much time here and not enough on the news but....What the heck is going on. I understand SH is a bad guy and I can see that we are probably going to war with Iraq. I just dont get why N Korea is not a big deal. Doesnt he already have the nuclear weapons we fear SH may get. Also hubby said he heard on news that we will prob go to war with Iraq in Mar but someone on here said next week. So what am I missing Do we have any idea when we will go to war and what will happen with N Korea while we are fighting Iraq? I hope I posted this in the right place. If I didnt please except my apologies.

Yes there are many out there to be afraid of ... SH is only one, but he currently has the means and capability to do active damage around the world with Biological and possibly Nukes. The Biological is definate and confirmed but the Nukes havent been located. Yes we will most likely go into war after the Muslim holy time which ends the 14th of Feb. Im thinking that he will wait for the Muslim holy time to end simply so it will not look as if it is a Christan and Muslim issue, which it is far from. SH is also known for caring and providing many of the terriosts a safe haven to live , and retain many weapons that they will use against us all, any nation any race. Until the UN makes a final decision everything is up in air, but C. Powell made a very strong case to the UN on this matter. If the USA attacks without the UN , we will be only with the a few countrys that back the USA on this matter, if the UN does agree that the USA does have a case on the previous mandates that were placed on Iraq years ago. Then it will be a UN matter and the matter will be divided amoung the countrys to take SH down. But I have a feeling the USA will nail Iraq reguardless if we have UN approval or not.
Korea on the other hand is a not yet smoking gun.... they have the capabilities to produce Nukes, they have only 2 at this moment, but can produce up to 6 by June. They are also a starving nation that is on the Brink of distruction itself. Im hoping Korea can be handled diplomatically and between a board room and discussed down to just destroying the Nukes, and breaking apart their systems. I hope that. But right now the UN is handling the Iraq situation because they Know the USA will strike with or without their approval.

Yeah, "W" is going to declare war just about the time that the weather gets unbearably hot, and there will be our service people, unaccustomed to the climate and in heavy gear in case of bio. attacks...that really makes sense to me.

I don't understand the NK thing either, and I haven't seen the proof that SH is definitely in cahoots with OBL and al-Queda. He probably is, but then again, if your next door neighbor is "probably" going to rob you, does that mean you are justified in making a preemptive strike against him?

Zoe thanks for the clarification. I am not 100% sure how I feel about it all but I tend to come down on the side of takeing care of SH once and for all. Whatever the case we need to stand by our service men and women. I am worried though about the what NK may do. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Zoe - my thoughts are with you. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you to be separated from your husband knowing how unsettled everything is with him in that part of the world. Try to make yourself turn off CNN from time to time though - I know too well how easy it is to get sucked into the news programs to the exclusion of all else. Let us know when you hear from your husband that all is well with him!

I speak to him every night at 9 pm like clockwork. He is still sitting over there waiting for it to either cut loose and go nuts or just settle down and see whats going to happen. Atleast I get to speak to my husband I cant imagine what it must be like not to. I hurt for those whose family is over in the middle east sitting in the sand waiting for Bush to either give the order or bring them home. I got an email from a friend of mine that her husband too has gotten his orders, and he is due to leave next week , their first child is due in March. Im waiting for her water to break just off nerves. I wonder how many that post on this board have friends of family that are in the service and had to take a deep breath and hold back their tears as they have watched their family member leave and You pray to everything holy that they just come back. I was lucky at some sort , My husband put me on a plane and just about made me come here. The excuse to finish my degree, the reason: Because it would be hard to hide a Blonde southern speaking woman that wont shut up. I know his job is dangerous I knew that when I married him.... I just kind of thought the world would behave long enough for me to grow old and die.

This is my understanding of the impending war.
W has been spending over a Billion $$ a month trying to find
Osama and has been clueless as to his whereabouts for some time and this nation is no longer that interested in Afghanastan.
W's Daddy never really finished his war against Saddam (couldn't find HIM either) so perhaps this is a good oppourtinity toattack another country, maybe actually FIND a bad guy and kill him, and finish daddys war all at once.
The only real obstacle is convincing the rest of the world that we should be the instigator...the one who STARTS the war.
Now we have been there for countries who needed our help in the past and have taken the side of democracy and whats "right" but we never have really been the first to attack.
The UN hasnt found any weapons of mass destruction of bio-weapons yet and are reluctant to give their official okey-dokey to us.
Probably won't matter. W is pretty intent on doing this.

I think GW is spreading us too thin...with terrorism, Iraq, and NK. I'm afraid for all the young guys in this country...we have enough servicemen/women to fight one battle, but what if we go after all three at once?

No wonder our economy is what it is...doesn't look like it's going to get any better anytime soon. Big spender's in the big house....

I pray for all of the service people and their families at this time. I'm just glad that my brother retired from the Air Force 3 years ago and didn't go Reserve. He's old enough that he should be safe now. He said he didn't think they could call him back after this amt of time...but who knows?? He held a critical position in Desert Storm and could still get called d/t that....
