Gosh - I have typed and re-typed this and oh boy here it goes:
I see no reason to carry a concealed gun. If you lead a lifestyle where you might use it, you probably need to change it. Few folks other than law enforcement could hit what they were aiming for. For the most part, folks that get shot by guns are the innocent bystanders and family members of those with guns in their households and cars!
Having worked in an inner city ER for 10 years, getting off at 0315 and walking 1/2 mile to the parking deck, I still didn't worry. I've SEEN some scary folks but you know you have confident body language, no purse and you're wearing scrubs
, I just haven't been bothered.
Another thing, if your gun is concealed say in your car and you approach a group of suspicious folks what do you do? Tell them you'd like to get your gun from the car? Or do you carry it out and about aiming it indiscrimately at everyone that meets your standards?
I think we have to be the voice of reason here - the US has the highest gun ownership per capita in the world. An yet, our crime statistics are out of this world too.
