Computer help... I think my printer has gone colour blind

  1. I am prinitng off a presentation and most of the words that should be in blue are comming out pink and the ones that should be pink are comming out green or blue.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? besides threratening to throw my printer out of the window?

DH says you might need a new color ink cartridge??? One of the colors might be empty, prompting the problem. Alternatively, is the proper ink cartridge in, and in correctly???

My 14-yo says just hope the building you'll be presenting in happens to spontaneously combust before your turn.

I always hope for the building to have collapsed or burnt down, when any presentations are involved.

I have changed the cartridge and it is the right one, but still the same, rather than colour blind I am working on the theory my printer is possessed!!

I had this happen too! You cartridge is either dried up, or clogged. Buying a new cartridge will solve your problems. But.....hubby showed me Walmart has printers for about 49.00 almost what you would pay for a new cartridge.

Does the printer head need to be cleaned? After you click on 'print', click on 'properties', then 'maintenance'. There should be sections under maintenance for you to clean the printer head, check the nozzles, etc.

If that doesn't work, it probably is a faulty cartridge. I've had them dry up before I've used them. (So much for stocking up in the hot season!)

RN2BLPN4NOW, Whisper is in England. WalMart doesn't have stores there yet, do they????

Whisper, is the new cartridge fresh or old?? Could be, as jemb says, it's dried up, if it's old.

I just did a coupla dances and chants and stood on my head waving my fake feather duster, to exorcise your printer. It should work now. No thanks necessary.

I don't know what is available in England. Never had been there. But Walmart.com is available on the internet. They have a Lexmark z25m for $34.63. Mailmen, UPS, and Fed Ex go everywhere!

woo-hoo, $34.63, that's great!! Time for another happy dance!

    Whisper, is it fixed???

It isn't fixed, I have printed off the majority of the pages in monochrome and went to a friends for the pages that had to be in colour.

My spare cartridge is old, so I am going to treat myself to a new one, should only be about 6, We don't have Walmarts, but they took over a store called ASDA, and they do sell cheap printers, but the cartridges for cheap printers are often 15-20!!!

I think I may have to face facts and admit that my printer may just be getting old...

We recently "had" to invest in new printer. It's SOOOO nice (we waited a LONG time before finally caving in. Got a good laser printer for $200US (which we thought was good).

    Best to you! -- D

WalMart has bought into one of our big brand stores over here called ASDA. I have just been over to Phoenix and my DH and myself went into WalMArt and was really disappointed as it was not what we was expecting, I guess it is like everything else you expect it to be like a store you are used to and it isn't.

Most tri-color cartridges have blue, yellow and red, sometimes magenta. The darker of the three usually empty before the others because most printing in color uses darker shades. I think your blue is empty and if you go and just buy a new cart you will probably solve your problem. I doubt your printer has gone bad. If everything looks good in B/W, like crisp and clear figures, then it is just your color cart. As for the cheap printers, if all you use your printer for is letters and such and do not use it for pictures and detail stuff, then the cheap one is OK. If you plan on using it for more detailed products then you will be disappointed with the results. Try the color cart first and if it doesn't help then look at a new printer. Good luck, Mike
