Like Russel I had to look that one up.Wast more of our tax dollars on stupid lawsuits. They need to have to see someone besides a lawyer who gets to decide weather you have something worth suing for before it even goes to court.

You know what, in the Netherlands we don't have a "suing culture" yet, but it seems to start little by little.
I think there is no way to stop this, or do you?

Honestly, no because it combines a few things that are a part of the "human condition":

    - blaming others
    - revenge
    - greed (i.e., free money)

As long as lawsuits are seen as hitting the lottery, they will never go away.

Especially now that everything is labeled or posted regarding its calorie and fat content, it is ridiculous. The ONLY possibility I could see would be a false labeling issue...such as where the product was labeled fat free and actually contained whopping amounts of it.

Good point, but why do we (as in the general American) think we have to sue everyone? I wasn't brought up to be greedy and money hungry.

Not many people are, but those traits are in all of us, and with the sense of entitlement and "deserving something" is so pervasive in America, it's not likely to change.

Ton, I don't know if you know.... but some guy here in the states sued McDonalds because he gained 180 kilograms eating their
hamburgers. !!!!! ha ha ha ha

These kinds of lawsuits define our "culture" or I should say, lack of culture.

Speaking of lawsuits, there is a penalty being decided this very hour for a woman who -while driving her car- hit a man.
His head and shoulders went thru the windshield.
His hips and legs were outside. He was stuck.
She drove 2 miles home, put the car in the garage, checked on the man over the next 2 days.
The victim pleaded with her to help him, she didn't.
    He died.

Her lawyers put her on the stand. The 27 year old womans' only
excuse was ""I didn't know what to do.""

The jury found her guilty yesterday. Penalty coming up.

We have lots of odd ball -strange- people in this country.

As the Dixie Chicks said," _____________________! "

Woops ! That's another thread... LOL

Ton it's gotten so bad in the US. We've actually had criminals who were in a house robbing them sue the owners if they get hurt while in their home robbing them.

I got floated a person (not a nurse) the other day and she said something really funny about "yet another instance off.....affecting my work....." Sure enough, several coworkers in her home unit and her manager are now in the process of being sued.

    unbelievable but true stories,thanks!
I know also the one(in the usa...) who put a cat in the magnetron and blamed the manufacturer for not telling that this is one of the things you must not put in........
I think the amount of money must be reasonable, and the case "normal common sense"
Must be pretty tough to work as a nurse inside the us, I work a lot with people from the us for the moment, and when I tread them it's always in my head: this kind of stories...

THIS is why we see all these stupid warning labels on our products.
On a iron: Do not iron clothes while wearing them.
On my brothers stroller: Do not fold stroller while baby is still in it.
There are a ton of others.
