City Kid Country Kid

  1. Something I posted earlier jogged this memory.

As a young girl I went on a geology school trip to, would you believe Mount Mee. It was a combined school trip and a lot of the kids had never been out of the city before.

Along with other memories of that trip is the vivd memory of one kid geology hammer in hand trying ot take samples of the cow daisies and asking the teacher what these "funny looking rocks were"

The teachers face was a study in conflicting desires you could just see the thought "Should I tell him?" running through his mind.

I was wondering if anyone lese has had a similar experience,

Sorry, my school trips were into the city, One lad started crying because of all the people, and one of the shop assistant was rude about our accents...

We didn't go on all that many outings, I wonder why???

My sister lives next to a farm. The kids call these "cow pies".

Every 8th grade class gets to go to 6 Flags, its an amusement park near StLouis. Anyway it was my turn to be an eighth grader. I just knew my mom wouldn't let me go. She was very protective. I got to go. I was so excited. We all got on the bus. They are telling us to stay away from the general public. We should only talk to our classmates. Miss Social Butterfly that I am, these boys started talking to me and a couple of my friends. I was sure we wouldn't get caught. It's a huge park for goodness sakes. We rode this romantic ride with these guys, and by the time we were done with the ride the boys had their arms around us. The end of the ride evidently somehow meets up with the people in line to get on the ride......BUSTED! And it was by a teacher who was friends of my mom. From then on when I went on field trips I listened to the rules and knew I would get caught if I didn't follow them!:chuckle

My cousins were visiting us from Chicago they were 12 and 13 y/o girls. My dad took us for a country ride in the bed of pap's old chevy and one of htem asked while passing by a pasture, "Are those wild cows???"

We are still breaking her chops about that one and I can't wait to share it with her kids.
