Christmas Card List 2006--getting started early!

  1. I've been waiting and waiting to get started, I love this time of the year so much.... and then a lovely allnurses buddy PM'd me and said, essentially, gee, I know it's early, but could we start now?

And of course that's all I needed..... :wink2:

To reiterate from seasons past.... any allnurses member can participate in the Allnurses Christmas Card Mailing List, even if they are not a premium member. Just PM or email me (I prefer email, actually) the following information:

    Your allnurses name
Your real name (so your postal carrier will know it is you)
Your mailing address, including your zip or postal code
Your email address so I can send you the list

Then, along about the middle of October or beginning of November, I'll start sending out the list by email. In the past I have sometimes remembered how to make it set up like labels, so if you are inclined, you can print it off that way. PLUS--If you find an error in your listing (none so far, I think, but anything is possible!), let me know ASAP so I can update everybody else.

Now, this is Christmas, so you don't have to send a card to everyone, but it's kind of nice to do that. However, if you can't for some reason but really wish you could, go ahead and join us. With no exceptions that I know of, we'd all rather send you a card at a time that you particularly need one, than have you sitting this year out because you couldn't afford postage or whatever.

And it goes without saying, the information on this and any previous allnurses Christmas card list is confidential, and not to be shared with anyone. If they are on the list, they got a copy. If they lost it, they can email me (I know who signs up!). If they aren't on the list, sorry, they don't get access to the info. It is all set up to protect all of us.....

Some people only want to send and receive email greetings. I'd like to encourage the email greetings sector to use the allnurses email or PM functions to send those greetings, rather than the actual Christmas Card list.

So, let the merriment begin! (Even if it is a little early..... )

Maybe we can make this a stickie like last year, eh, mods?

I should have said this before, to all the membership....

There is no requirement to send cards to everyone (or even anyone) on the list.

Very nice little cards can be had at the dollar store. I got a box of 20 last year for, you guessed it, a buck.

Many of us, myself included, do not count the cards we receive, but we do look forward to writing a little note and sending it off to people we've met here..... Postage is also pretty reasonable, even internationally, especially if you start early (although last year we discovered that airmail was sometimes less costly than surface) and if you don't use really heavy cards.

So even if you cannot, please remember that receiving is participating too.

(this isn't just to you, cheerfuldoer, but to anyone who feels hesitant because of expense or they don't know enough people or all the little what ifs we all can come up with. Join in--the spirit is in the connection!)

Thanks for explaining this to us, Chris! :icon_hug: As soon as I know which address I will have for December, I'll send it to you. Right now, I'm here and there just trying to keep a roof over my head until I land some kind of work.

Also, another idea, i received a card, that someone had made themselves (i knew from prior postings they were in a financial bind). They had bought red printer paper, folded it twice, wrote on the front and wrote on the inside, it was very nice.

Sent my addy and information to you on a pm. Thanks again for starting this again. I love sending out cards to people. Need to get to working on my cards, I almost put it off to much last year. I am going to a workshop on Tuesday and hopefully I can get some cards made, at my card store, they already have Christmas stamps coming in. Have a great Halloween. Sonya
