    Checking in...

In my area there is damage... someone lost a brand new garage... A train derailed with 30 cars.. we are not too far from Van Wert and Continental where ppl lost lives, very sad.

One hospital in Fostoria had a 3rd floor collapse.

Will probably hear more in the morning, as we have been out of electricity until 4 am this morning.

My husband, boys and I were shopping in OBNURSEHEATHER's city when the tornados went thru, the Mall alerted all the shoppers over the PA system where the tornados were sighted and they mentioned "our" county.. so we were naturally concerned.

Thanks Anita, I will try to update more later in the day... hope the other allnurse Ohioans are okay.

Oh my, I am worried about you also. The bad weather went through Pittsburgh for the most part without doing damage. Unfortunately, some surrounding places like Mercer got damage.

I think things are moving south of us now.. it was weird to watch the "Today Show" this morning and see a town that is so close to me just in shock. It's like, "that could have been us".

One of my sons teachers had just left the theater in Van Wert, looked out her back window and saw the Tornado that took the roof off of the theater, I bet she wasn't driving the speed limit.. neither would I.

mkue, they were just talking about that theater on the news. They said hundreds of children had been watching Santa Clause II in is and left minutes before the tornado hit.

Thanks oramar.. more kids there than what I thought.. I think it was a matinee, how scared they must have all been.

Thank goodness for the Weather Alerts and technology, and I heard that these tornados were really large

How scary!! I'm glad it's looking like everyone's ok. I've never seen a tornado (thankfully) but they sound terrifying. The worst thing we get here on the Oregon Coast are really big waves during storms. Tourists get hurt or killed often because they don't realize how dangerous they can be. A 30 foot wave can throw a log a LONG ways. Probably not quite as far as a tornado though!

We are fine. Was a bad storm though.

We are all ok. Just don't care for the nasty storms! It sounds like the hospital in Van Wert was prepared for the disaster tho!
