CD burner

  1. My birthday is coming up, and I'm thinking of buying a mid-priced CD burner for myself. Any ideas or recommendations?. I value your opinions more than consumer reports:imbar :wink2:

I have a CD burner that Rocks! Unfortunately, it's a SCSI device so I had to add a SCSI card to my computer. It's made by plextor. They make other types of CD burners to (USB, IDE, etc.) Check them out. Their web site is:

    http://www.plextor.com

My Plextor CD burner is a model 12/10/32S (External SCSI).

Many semi-pro and professional musicians seem to use Plextor CD burners.

    Good luck!

    Hi Adrienurse,

I've got a three year old Hewlett Packard internal CD burner. It has been a "finicky" drive since the day I installed it. It could be the Adaptec software that causes it because when I reboot the computer, it works OK, still locks up at times but usually behaves. If I've had the computer on for a while and have accessed several programs, it won't recognise any CD that is inserted. Maybe the newer HP CD burners are better, but I wouldn't recommend HP from my experience.

I have the SONY CRX140E/CH2 I paid about $140.00 for it last year! I love it.... I haven't any problems with it and I have burned 217 CD's with it...... I am a music freak!

Check out the Sony site... and check out the Spressa burners!

    Good Luck

There's an LG burner on sale right now at Future Shop. After you wade through all the rebates and such it's about $69, and LG burners are ok.

I bought a Sony 24/10/40 about a month ago. It burns perfect and it's plenty fast for me, but it's LOUD when it's spinning fast.
