Cat Saves Family in Australia

  1. Friday, 29 December. Cairns, Australia:
A family of four was spared possible death when a mattress caught fire, and their cat warned them of the danger.

"The cat was probably the best smoke alarm system," fire service spokesman Robert White-MacFarlane said. "The occupant was woken by the household cat which was scratching his face, alerting (him) to the ensuing dangers."

Once the pet's owner was up, he was able to wake the rest of the family, and get them outside to safety. There were apparently smoke alarms throughout the house, but the smoke had not saturated it enough to set them off.

Because of the cat's warning there was only minor damage to the home.

Good old Fuzzbucket saves the day, for those who wonder why we keep these critters around. My spouse keeps threatening to drop my cat off at the taxidermist so that we can enjoy her forever, up on a shelf. I'll have to get him to read about this cat, hero and maybe he will change his attitude.

It's because we feel the same way about our furbabies.

Many hugs to you, hon. I'm so sorry about Ally.

:chuckle I saw this on the news along with a picture of the kitten - cute kitten but it had that same "Gee lookit the butter...........oooh! A tail to chase, oh! It's mine!" look that all little kittens have. I personally think the kitten was actually trying to tell the owner that it's litter box was full!!
