Can't sleep. Need sleep. HELP!!!!

  1. I need to sleep, but here's the catch, I CAN'T! I have been trying to sleep since 11m I have been tossing and turning until now (2:30!) I have to get up in a few hours too! I have a long day ahead of me tomorow . . . or today. please give me sleep tips!

    Mandi - ohh you poor thing!! How annoying that you can't sleep - my tip to sleep is do some excercise. It usually uses up any remaning energy i have (after the high wears off) and then i can sleep better OR do something you really HATE doing - for me this is cleaning my shoes, and then maybe you would prefer to sleep instead - if that fails too then STAY AWAKE!! Since you only have a few hours until you have to get up and a big day ahead then listen to music and jump around, any nap might make you feel worse than if you are sleep deprived!! Just some little idea's that work for me. Good luck

    oh, by the way i should tell you that i am also a night owl - 3 years of nightclubbing about 4 times a week has made that a habbit!!

    If I can't sleep and am getting stressed about it, I try and think of it as a refreshing nap rather than a good night's sleep. Takes the pressure off a bit.

    Get a milky drink and a banana in your belly and just close your eyes for 10 mins. Even resting without sleeping is a bit more refreshing than thinking "I can't sleep" and logging on again.

    I suffered from insomnia for nearly 10 years and have beaten it for the moment - those things work for me. They're worth a try since not sleeping can make you miserable. For Dog's sake don't get started on the sleepers, girl. It's not worth it, especially so soon in your career. Try valerian or St John's Wort to aid relaxation, they might help you to sleep too.

    This is going to sound really, really dumb(just wanted to get that out of the way first! ) BUT, I tried this thing a friend told me...day dream first.
    Just lay back on the bed, close your eyes and think about all the stuff you'd do if you won lotto, or found a real live genie or something really good and really dumb. I find I drift off eventually and end up having some great dreams. I think it may have something to do with the "happy endorphines" that being content in some way releases.     Sometimes I can't sleep if I am hungry, try a bowl of cereal. I think you should call your Dr. and tell him about your sleep problems.

    Mandi, it was just a few months ago you said you didnt sleep for 6 days and were stressed cuz you were trying to get a drivers license and stealing cigarettes from your parents, etc, etc, etc.... So, did ya get the license? did you quit stealing smokes? Stress does things to a person. Like I have said many times before, and I mean it in a nice way, please stop trying to grow up so fast. Be a kid, you are only a kid once. Most teenagers sleep til noon on saturdays, and are hanging out with friends etc.....

close
