hmmm....there are 2 things Guaranteed to put me to sleep....

    1. Watching the CBS evening news with Dan Rather-- somehow it must be something in his voice....

    2. I turn on a sermon channel... Catholic channel works real well, and trinity broadcasting as well....

again, it's soothing to listen to....

    good luck!

Oddly enough, I pull out an old med-surg or high acuity text book from school and try to brush up on some long lost facts...works like a charm just like it did years ago in school :chuckle

Well, there's always alcohol. Or Benadryl.

Personally, I find skin-care infomercials to be positively soporific. Some model is shown sitting by a waterfall smoothing cream over her face and throat while a voiceover in dulcet tones tells you all about the "soothing emollients" and "healing botanicals".....I'm usually drooling on my shirt collar in no time.

um... calming music... lots of it....
boring books....like the one I've been trying to read... for a class I have to TEACH.... booring...
or, you can be like me, and submit to the insomnia...
(wait... I work nights.... that could be why I cant sleep)
    hahaha

Whenever I cant sleep, and I know that I need some, I pop some benedryl. I'm about to go do that myself.

Well... sex use to help but... Okay try turning on a loud fan and making the room as dark as possible. Then picture pleasant things in your mind... like fields of flowers that you are walking through...

Wake up at 4 a.m. daily....run your butt off ALL day...come home and cook/clean/play with the kiddies/fight with them over bedtime and eventually collapse into bed yourself at 11. Works like a charm every time! I also used to have problems getting to sleep, and now I sleep like a log...

Go to bed, turn out the light. Think of your favorite book or tv program or movie. Put yourself in the title role and work your way through the book or movie...even vary the action according to how you'd do it differently.

I used to be quite an insomniac in my teens and accidentally tried this...it's worked ever since.

Now I find out it's a form of self hypnosis...leads you naturally into the dream state.

Wow kristy, you read my mind. I haven't had any trouble sleeping since I had kids either. But I insist on sleeping to 5 a.m.
