calling all techies -- cd burner installation

  1. My sister has a newish PC that has a burnt out hard drive. Assuming her cd-burner (internal) isn't also burnt out she's offered to give it to me. Exactly how complicated would removing her drive and installing it in mine be? Could I manage this myself?

If the cd-burner is intact, DH says your success will depend on what software drives it. You may move the cd-burner to another (your) pc; that is just a matter of unscrewing screws and physically moving the burner, and the associated cables. But, you'll need software to make it work. This will include a driver (from the same mfr as the cd-burner) and special software that will enable you to write to that drive.
