Calling all scrapbookers....

  1. I know there are some scrapbookers out there. I am starting a scrapbook and was wondering where you get your supplies and stuff. How about page layouts? Do you create your own or do you look for samples in magazines and such? I don't want to invest a whole lot into this to start off with, but was wondering what basic supplies I can't live without. Thanks...

My 17-year-old daughter does this. She gets most of her stuff from Walmart. Besides the scrapbook, she has bought a couple of pairs of scissors that make fancy edges, and she figures out her own page layouts. She likes using origami paper as accents...but also anything else she comes across that she thinks looks cool. She's used stickers and also used colored pens to liven it up. And believe me, she's no artist. The books, though not professional looking, are extremely charming and the people she gives them to love them.

Whether you go to Walmart for supplies or Creative Memories, just make sure that the products you buy say "photo safe."

If you would like to speak to a Creative Memories Consultant, you can check right online. They have a website - www.creativememories.com. They have some real good products and it's also a great way to get together with other scrappers.

We've got a few specialized scrapbook stores here now, but I like Hobby Lobby, they've got a good selection, and I'm assuming better prices!

I haven't looked at Walmart before but I bet they'd be affordable too Have to check them out :wink2:

I went to a Creative Memories party and soon became an addict. It is, however, extremely expensive going thru them for everything. I found alot of the same stuff cheaper at Staples (acid free papers and gell pens, etc) Stickers you can get acid free too...just have to look at the labels. There are also lots of magazines on Scapbooking with great ideas for layouts. Have fun with your new hobby! It's great!

    Leslie,

Several of my friends have mentioned a store called Luv 2 Scrapbook. I think it is out on Jefferson somewhere. The people at work said there is a membership fee of $5 or $10 per year, and you can go in and use all their stuff. I will have to check that out....
