Burning Cd's

  1. I just (finally )figured out how to burn CD's! I feel like a doophis cause it really was not difficult to do yet I did not try earnestly for many months after I bought the machine. It intimadated the heck outta me but it was, in the end, very easy.

I copied my digital pictures to get them off my hard drive. The quality is just as good as the orginal picture from the hard drive.

It is all so incredible and still makes me feel in awe of puters and 21st century technology.

Bear Share, an audio website has a lot of music to copy. It appears the best way to copy those is by planning to use the CD on the puter or MP3 player. Anyone have any experience with that? Or with other music dowloadable websites?

If you have trouble getting a good burn on your CD, slow down the write speed, don't let it do the speed automatically. It will take longer, but you won't waste as many CD's.

Also many programs have a test and write option then if errors occur it doesn't burn the cd and you save that cd then slow down the write speed as Bob said.

I've had good results with Limewire also.

Please be aware that, while you can receive free music from these sites, you can receive viruses too. I once had a slew of infected files from visiting one of the sites mentioned in this thread, because I had to disable the firewall to download any music.

So now I go to a site where my firewall is enabled, do a weekly scan, and live happily ever after with my CD burner.

Yes, virus protection is a must when file sharing. Luckily, we've never had any problems!

My program came with my HP hardware. I was told I had to format it first but did not. The icon came up and asked what I wanted to do; I clicked the appropirate response for what I wanted (burn new CD) poof! It happened quite uneventfully.

I used CD -R so I would not have a problem with using the CD's down the road.

Play around with it. Let us know if you need help.
