Bribery ends Congressman's Career and ruins his life

  1. "I broke the law, concealed my conduct and disgraced my high office," Cunningham, 63, said outside the federal courthouse. "I know I will forfeit my freedom, my reputation [and] my high office."

At least he was upfront about it. What amazes me is this one man got over 2 million dollars. Makes me wonder out of the hundreds of congresspersons who else can't resist? And how many millions are there out there being bribed.

Why won’t the ethics committee investigate their members?

    JUNE 15, 2005
WASHINGTON, DC – Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) called on the House ethics committee today to investigate San Diego Representative Randy “Duke” Cunningham’s (R-CA) sale of his house to a defense contractor who had pending legislation before the House defense appropriations subcommittee, of which Cunningham is an influential member.

Very sad, very disgraceful. It's time to clean house on both "sides" of the aisle.

Anyone remember remember gazing up at his mock F-4 "Phantom" in the San Diego Air and Space Museum ?

    What a disgraceful end!

    One word ....... GREED!
  8. by ZASHAGALKA
No, there are plenty of places to be greedy.

    The right word is: Arrogance.

I have absolutely no sympathy. I hope they throw the book at him. Being an American leader is not only a place of extreme trust; it is a position of high honor.

We talk alot (in other threads) about loosely bandying about words like 'traitor' for those that disagree with our political opinions.

This man was a traitor. He not only betrayed the trust vested in him, but the honor of his position.

    Shame.

I think Timothy is honest and moral.
I agree with his opinions on almost every patient care/nursing thread.

I think we need to get some balance in our checks and balances.
If the Democrats were in control of all three branches some would be absolutely currupted too. The currupt ones would try to prevail against both the other party and their own independent thinkers.
