Bought something off Ebay a month ago, and it still hasn't arrived...

  1. About a month ago, I won a video from a seller on Ebay and still haven't received the video. I paid instantly with electronic payment and e-mailed my shipping address to the seller. Still, no video. I have e-mailed a couple of times, and the lady's response is "you should have had it by now", (ya think?). I am trying really hard not to get grumpy over this, but it is starting to honk me off. I have a perfect feedback rating and don't want to screw that up but I am getting to the point where I feel living a negative is becoming an unavoidable situation. Any suggestions? Any experienced ebayers out there for advice? I just buy stuff on ebay and have never had any problem before with getting my stuff. Not sure how to proceed with this.

Use the Square Trade negotiating service on ebay (it's free). I always reimburse for things I sold that don't arrive (It's only happened twice) whether they bought insurance or not.

I purchased an $800 multi-track digital tape recorder off ebay. The ad said that it was in "excellent" condition! Also, the person selling this piece of equipment seemed to have recieved high reviews!

When it arrived. (At least I was lucky that it DID arrive), it was poorly packaged. Not off to a good start! When I opened it, I was immediately impressed to the POOR condition of this supposedly "excellent" multi-track tape recorder. There was one push button that was pushed inside the chasis; another "connector" was totally broken in the back of the unit rendering it useless for syncing this device to other recorders or the computer. I tried a couple of times to reach the person (by email) who sold me this item. . . no return response.

Needless to say, I was stung. . . I was pissed!

That was my first. . . and my last time I bid and purchase anything from eBay.

I don't have any constructive advice to offer except to keep off eBay. Sorry. . . .

Sorry Ted that you had such a lousy experience. I have had a lot of good transactions with Ebay. I don't know if I would ever go and spend $800 on ebay. Most the stuff I buy is in the $20 to $30 range-so if I get stung it doesn't hurt too bad. I have a policy that I don't buy from anyone who has a negative feedback and I try to stay away from newbies, unless their feedback is glowing so much that I need sunglasses....I have found some neat stuff for my Dad who collects pharmaceutical packaging items.

Ted, maybe you could start a poll on Ebay.....

I have had good experiences, both selling and buying on ebay, but again, no way would i spend $800, the feedback can be fake, believe it or not, and if i spent that much money i would have filed a complaint with ebay, they're pretty good at trying to resolve issues, also to the person who hasn't received your item yet, email the person and tell them you're filing a negative unless they refund your $ because the item hasn't arrived, also file an official complaint with ebay.

I have been lucky with Ebay. Mostly got what I expected. I did get burned once for 80 dollars for a camera that was broken the person hasd a good record until after I bought the camera, they went downhill from there. There are a lot of resources on ebay for help try this site "moika" its a members about me site that has all sorts of help links. I have the site bookmarked but can't seem to get the hyperlink thingy to work. Now don't get anal on my English Ted. Good luck but be quick the faster yo act the more likely you can get any money back. deb
