Bored, Lonely and Tired

  1. Spouse is out of town at a conference. It's pitiful but he seems to fill such a space I get disjointed when he's gone. Can't sleep. I'm bored and very tired. Whenever I lay down I get all restless and have to get up. Ever have one of those days/nights that you can't sleep no matter how tired you are? Oh well, I have to work in a few hours, that'll take care of everything. LOL

So what's happening with you all? How's everyone doing? Check in time.

Awww...Sorry you're lonely! I'm the same way when my husband is working late or away. Can't sleep well at all. I usually end up cleaning.

I know what you mean. In Jan 04 I went to the 4 pm to midnight shift. Hubby works straight days. Very frustrating that we don't see each other for days on end. I know exactly how you're feeling. Have fun at work!

Doing OK, although work has been horrendous lately since they cut back on our staffing.....last night I was the PRN nurse, and I ran the entire 8 hours---no breaks, no time even to pee. I don't mind being busy, I don't mind doing admits, but I never got a chance to COMPLETE anything........I'd get one admit half done, and here came another......then it was off down the hall to start an IV on someone who was supposed to have gone to surgery an hour ago, take off STAT orders that had been sitting there since noon, take report on yet another admit, drop an NG into a fresh post-op who'd been puking since coming up to the head's still spinning, and I've gotta work again tonight.

At least I didn't think about my poor battered body for awhile---I played badminton with my kids for 2 hours on Sunday and another hour or so on Monday, and I was having so much fun that I completely forgot that I'm 45 and still morbidly obese despite the 40+ pounds I've lost. Then yesterday I woke up feeling legs were sore as hell, and my back ached so ferociously that it took me five full minutes to get out of bed! I'm in much better physical shape than most people my size, especially now that I exercise regularly, but now I know what people mean when they talk about the "weekend warrior" syndrome!!

    Hi Tweety,
I hope you were able to settle down and get some rest.
I usually have one or two nights a week that I get really restless too. My solution is to get up and do something, or write down what's bothering me.

Here in the Northeast, its about 45 degrees and raining. We really need the rain since we didn't get much snow this winter. So, the water levels are kind of low. The spring flowers are just starting to poke through the soil and the trees are starting to get some buds. But, wait a minute and it will snow and everything will get frost bite and die. Welcome to New England huh?

I just started my maternity rotation this week. Haven't decided if I like it or not. :uhoh21: I think it just scares me, which is really strange considering I have two kids, and love babies. I am more intimidated with this rotation than my last which was med/surg.

Hope you get some rest, Berta

awwwww, Tweets.... take this time to reflect on all you have to be grateful for. Turn it into a GOOD thing ! When your senses are filled with gratitude, rest comes easy.

Drift off to sleep with spouse in your heart and a smile on your face. :kiss

For me, I enjoy the times of solitude... actually NEED them... very refreshing for me.

Been too busy spring cleaning and repainting to be here much.. try to sneak a peek every now and then, but I'm going to be up to my ears in happy horsedoody 'til the end of May...

You have a good night... by tomorrow you should sleep well.

Hey Tweety! I know how you feel. It is hard for me to sleep when hubby is not here too. Actually he is scheduled to be in Texas at the end of April for a week. I think I'll be letting the kids sleep in my bed that week. All is well here. Went shopping for pig food for our new guinea pigs, got dog food, fish filters and then got my nails done. I need to get some studying done tonight. Hope your man gets home soon.

It's tough when they go out of town! When my hubby's out I can't sleep either. Sometimes it's cuz I get spooked other times I just miss him. Good luck to you and here's hoping for a happy reunion!

Managed to sleep an hour! I'm so tired, but I've been busy. Why is it that when you are the most tired and strung out there's a freakin' staff meeting in the morning????

Tweety, I know what you're talking about. My spouse has been in hospital for 2 weeks now, and this house is soooo empty without him. Thank heavens for our doggie! I woke up at 4 in the morning two mornings in a row, and just lay there, not able to go back to sleep, brain working a mile a minute.

When you feel alone, just thank the Lord (or whoever you believe in) for your spouse's good health, and pray he'll come back to you safe and sound!

Thanks Jay-Jay for keeping it real. Take care.
