Hotwire.com is a good place for cheap tickets, if you can be flexible with the time of day you want to leave. You enter when you want to leave and come back, they tell you how much it is. After you accept the fare they tell you what airline and the departure/arrival times. They only use major airlines, so you won't end up on some strange plane from no where. I booked a flight out of Des Moines, Iowa to Denver, Colorado for my husband the night before he had to leave. It cost $275 and the arrival/departure times were good times. I would try it another time.

when i am 100% sure of where/when i want to go, i go to priceline.com because you can name your own price and they search for an airline that will accept it. the only thing is, you have to be certain because they take your credit card # and charge it right away, no refunds. i got tix for me and my 3 kids, ny to fl, for $125 each round trip!!! loved that one!

I pretty much only fly Southwest. You can buy your tickets at their website, and you don't even have to have anything shipped to your house. Just show up and give them your name at the airport.

I use Expedia and have used them for trips to Hawaii, Florida and next week - St. Thomas - they have always been very good and reputable. Good luck

I usually use Orbitz, but a few times I have gotten better prices by going to the airlines' sites directly.

I use Travelocity.com all the time and have always had good luck. I'll usually check another cite like cheaptickets and the airline's site directly to compare. I've had very good luck booking hotels through Travelocity also.
