Blocking the Mentally Ill from Buying Guns

    WASHINGTON - House Democratic leaders are working with the National Rifle Association to bolster existing laws blocking mentally ill people from buying guns.

    in IL, you can not get a FOID card if you have had any mental health hospitalizations in the last 5 years.

    Incredibly sad is the fact the mental illness is under-recognized and under-treated in our country----couple that with the equally-disturbing fact that anyone determined and resourceful enough will do things like this, virtually unstopped and unhindered.

    A lot more than limited access to firearms needs to be done, I guess, is what I am trying to say here.

    How many are saying in cases like V-tech or Columbine, in hindsight, "wow he was a little 'off' and I had a feeling something like this might go down" or something like it????
