Bloated, miserable post op

  1. Finally, had my lap chole yesterday. And today, I am miserable, bloated and sore.

I've been walking, and coughing and deep breathing. And taking my Darvocet N-100 q 4 hours.

I feel like I've just given birth to a 10 lb. baby (and trust me, I KNOW what that feels like.)

Oh, man, that stinks. I'm glad they got that nasty gallbladder out of you but I'm sorry that you're hurting. Take care and rest up. (((hugs)))

I can understand that, because it's not like you can go on a cleaning frenzy or anything. Let's see - try this game site if you like words games - I love text twist.

Bless your heart. I had lap surgery last May. No post-op teaching... ...good thing I knew about TCDB & splinting.

Hope you feel better very soon!:kiss

Some tips to help with the bloating, don't drink any carbonated drinks, and take a stool softener twice a day, it does help. Feel better soon.

If you are REAL bloated, firm abdomen and distended,
as opposed to soft abdomen and just swollen (which is normal),

you might want to auscultate your bowel sounds and see how they are.

And consider a glycerine suppository or Fleets enema if things sound sluggish.....

Seen more than one gas ileus after lap chole 's .
Stick to fluids until you are real sure things are "gurgling"
    throughout.

Good luck. And take it easy, you DID have surgery.

OK - thanks - now I have the song "Rawhide" stuck in my head . (Best sung, of course, by Jake and Elwood Blues.)

    Theme from Rawhide
    - Rowdy Gaines

    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rawhide!

    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Though the streams are swollen
    Keep them dogies rollin'
    Rawhide
    Rain and wind and weather
    Hellbent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
    All the things I'm missin'
    Good victuals, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride

    {Refrain}
Move 'em on, head 'em up
Head 'em up, move 'em on
Move 'em on, head 'em up
    Rawhide
Count 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, count 'em out
Count 'em out, ride 'em in
    Rawhide

    Keep movin', movin', movin'
    Though they're disapprovin'
    Keep them dogies movin'
    Rawhide
    Don't try to understand 'em
Just rope 'em, pull and brand 'em
Soon we'll be living high and wide
    My hearts calculatin'
My true love will be waitin'
Be waitin' at the end of my ride

    {Refrain}

    Hyaa!

    {Refrain}

    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Hyaa!
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Hyaa!
    Rawhide!

    Rawhide!
