Benihanna's fried rice

  1. OHHHHH This has been my fav resturaunt for years. Hubby and I go almost for every special occassion and EVERY Valentines Day.

For those of you who don't know it is a Japanese resturaunt and they cook your food in front of you, put on a big show...oh its great.

    Anyway, my question is...

I ADORE their fried rice and I know a few of the main ingredients...
    Chicken
    Honey Butter
    Carrots
    Eggs
    Salt & Pepper

but not all the ingredients or the amounts. I would like to take a stab at cooking it at home. Anybody have their recipe or a similar one that they have tried in comparison?

don't have the recipe but just wanted to say that we love that restaurant too! the chef flipping the shrimp and everything being cooked right on the table is very entertaining. You could try typing it into a search engine to see if they list their nutritional facts, or maybe call to see what they put in the rice. Lots of people have allergies and need to know exactly what is in certain foods so they might help you out.

There used to be a cookbook that gave you the recipes for almost anything that you get in a restaraunt. I cannot remember the name though.
I used to have the "special sauce" recipe like McDonalds, I have a recipe for an Aussie Chicken that I got off of www.allrecipes.com. You might check there. I have had great luck with this site and use it frequently.

    Benihana Fried Rice

    1/2 teaspoon chopped onion
    1/3 teaspoon chopped carrots
    1/3 teaspoon chopped green onion
    4 ounces steamed rice
    3 pinches of salt (optional)
    7 teaspoons cream butter
    1 egg
    1/2 teaspoon oil
    1 ounce cooked chicken
    1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds
    3 pinches of pepper
    1 teaspoon soy sauce

Scramble eggs and chop after cooking. Saut chopped onion, green onion and carrots until done and mix with chopped scrambled egg and chicken. Break off chunks of steamed rice and mix with vegetable, egg and chicken. Add sesame seed and salt and pepper, stirring well. Add cream butter and soy sauce into the mixture, stirring well until done. Makes one serving.
