Bedtime Rituals

  1. do you or your family have any bedtime rituals you do before retiring or any you plan on starting? care to share. (not sex or getting on the internet, please.

i try to spend some "quite time" by myself before i go to sleep. i am thinking about having family prayer time instead of or maybe along with individual prayer time. i do need to read my bible more too.

I just got off of work and I always come here and to my other favorite websites to wind down. Then when I feel pretty tired, I head to bed and do the cryptogram, Jumble, and/or the crossword puzzle in the Philadelphia Inquirer until my eyes are so droopy and tired, I HAVE to turn off the light. :zzzzz :zzzzz :zzzzz

I either read a little or write a little or maybe put something in my journal while I listen to music. (This is on the occasional day when my day hasnt gone straight to h-ll and i dont just fall into bed like a zombie)

I usually meditate for a bit... and, if I survive that awake(which rarely, if ever happens.... sometimes I watch some TV.... Sometimes I write some guided meditation outlines...

Before bedtime...I read...and also should read my bible more.. But I do try to think about my day...and pray before going to sleep. Sometimes I sing...if I'm upset, or worried. It calms me down...and usually puts me in the right spirit for prayer.

Sometime I'm soo tired...all I can do is find my bed...:chuckle

I like to read a little something, or watch Andy Griffith on Nick-at-Nite.
Then, I snuggle into hubbys arms and doze off! (If he's not snoring too bad!

I used to meditate. Can't seem to get into the "zone" these days. Copied a tape called Yoga Nidra from my aunt from New Zealand (who is into all sorts of far out $h!t). Basically it instructs you to visualize different images and control your breathing. I especially like to part about pretending to breathe through your navel.

These days, mostly read myself to sleep. Sometimes good stuff, sometimes naughty.
I watch TV in bed. Can't fall asleep without it. Once the TV in our living room broke, and we moved the one from our room into the living room until we found one we liked for the living room.... worst 3 nights of sleep I ever had....

My son and I have this ritual of things we have to say to each other when he goes to bed.
