Bannings run rampent or do they ?

  1. I would like to know if Dave aka MD Terminator and Angelbear have been banned?

I would also like to know if anyone else has been banned over the PM issue?

I know a little bit about what happened and I can see both sides. TOS state PM maybe accessed by admin. in special circumstances. However if people were banned because they were discussing the PM issue tha would seem to prejudicial.

Brian if you see this maybe you would like to get in front of it before your wonderful medium is torn apart by descension.

    I appreciate any information.

No one was banned because they discussed the PM issue. There were some pretty heated discussions though so I can understand why you would be concerned.

Dave has not posted voluntarily, I will check on angelbear.

Neither one is on the banned list, I checked.

Ok it used to say banned under the name of a banned person then it was changed to --- or whatever so when I see this I assume these people are banned. Did they do this themselves?

Strange. Because if they didn't pick a saying to say it would say "registered user" and not "---". Wonder what's up with that?

What in the heck is all this about?
I read the thread from Fran today and it seems like we have had some huge hoohaa going on. Has there been some big incident we need to know about?

I know there was a big bruhaha about PMs being read by Mods and dave and anglebear were discussing it and Mods were saying it doesn't happen etc. Only admin can read PM and only if there is a reason. But now I see dave and anglebear showing the --- so naturally I am curious.

OK, after further research I can confirm that neither member was banned and they sent a message to admin that they were leaving voluntarily because of the PM issue.

Thanks canoehead, it's their right and you can't change a whole boards policies and TOS to please a few. We either accept them or we leave.

We'll miss them, but that's their decision. But why the "---" under their names on their old posts?

    We will definately miss them.

I guess if you have such a problem with PM's you could easily just not use that feature. It's very sad, they both contributed a lot to this board prior to the PM issue.

Can someone please tell me when this pm issue took place and what it was about? I actually log on more often because I love MD Terminator's point of view and his style. I'm sad now.

Here's a link to the thread in question, which has been locked:

Hope this answers your question, and we can put this issue behind us, and get on with enjoying the board!

If you want to read about the PM "issue" it's all pretty well spelled out in this thread: http://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59219. (I had no idea what had happened either till I read it)

ETA: never mind, someone beat me to it!

Let me just say that in the time that I have been here I have seen Brian bend over backward time and again to avoid banning members - especially members of long standing. He and the other administrators do try to be fair, as do we all. This is why a lot of actions are taken only after a consensus decision.

I do not know why Dave suddenly became upset after posting here for so long but he was quite incensed that anyone had access to Pm's and chose not to believe that the administrators do not and I repeat do not read them unless there is clear and valid reasons.
