This is a news release re:hackers getting into the financial aid office's computers. So if anyone here had files in that office (past, present and future students), check it out.

University computer security is horrible. Many IT personnel are hackers themselves, or are sympathetic to hackers, and the college doesn't even know it.
As universities move more and more courses and other functions online, hackers will be able to cheat their way into a degree and who knows what else. Bandwidth theft alone is costing universities a fortune.
I know they say they're taking precautions, etc. But 178,000 social security numbers exposed? And all they can say is check your credit report for identity theft? Unbelieveable!
I have no doubt that we'll be reading about more of these incidents in the future.
