Well, it was dramatic, but somewhat predictable i.e. the primitive conditions, Luka gets the girl, John and Luka nearly get shot, etc. etc.

But, then, I don't like it when the story line leaves the ER.

Some probably enjoyed it but, as a season finale, it left me disappointed. Though I am grateful we didn't have to deal with Abby's family AGAIN!!

    That's my $0.02!

I saw it and was disappointed in the whole episode. Last weeks was hard to understand. However there was a scene in which Carter pulls a gang member who is using a scalpel to stab another gang member. A few minutes later Carter is changing out of his suit (he had been at his grandmothers funeral) and Carrie walks in and says Carters neck is bleeding and he should have it looked at. He doesn't have the wound looked at (was he cut by the dirty scalpel?) then he goes to Africa instead of a vacation where he has himself up to his armpits in patients wearing used dirty gloves. Did he get infected by the dirty scalpel or in Africa? We will find out in the Fall.

tonic I never even THOUGHT of the cut! The conditions were terrible there though. No sanitation, no sterile gloves, only a few antibiotics.

There was one man that Carter tried to save for hours (similar to the cardiac man the previous week) and it turned out that was the deciding factor whether the soldier shot Carter and the volunteers.

I was surprised Carter didn't speak/understand French. It would seem to me he would have been well travelled being so wealthy. Perhaps Junior year in Paris? I guess it might have been a plot device.

I agree it wasn't the best ER I've seen. But so much of the story had a negative parallel to County's well equipped Emergency Room.
Eg: in Chicago the lights flickered Africa the power was cut by the MaiMAi frequently. It was literally life/death depending on if the electricity lasted.

I was disappointed with ER as well. Actually I was disappointed with alot of the finales this season. No cliffhangers and nothing really exciting IMO.

Did anyone happen to notice when Carter made the comment about how the nurses at home were always complaining about their patient loads?

(Referring to having something like 200 patients and 4 nurses or something like that there in Africa...)

That kinda ticked me off a little...

    Yeah that was not good.

Not good, but I still lub carter anyway:kiss The show was different. It kinda made me think at the end though. Ya know when he came back to know his perspective was different. Have you ever had a day at work.....that touched you so hard.....that when you went home, you knew you were on a different page than the rest of your family? Something that you can not even explain to them, cause you know they would have had to have been there to understand the magnitude of it? I guess there are just times we just can't take too much for granted......and then times we do.

I actually liked it . . kept thinking I wish my kids could understand a different perspective except their self-centered teenage one. Everything revolves around them . . guess that is normal but very frustrating. There are things going on every day just like the ER episode . . . even worse. It shouldn't upset you that mom and dad aren't gonna let you watch an R-rated movie. Guess I'm a bit frustrated by always feeling like the bad guy. Sorry.

I also wondered why Carter couldn't speak French . . and I missed the comments about nurses. I never thought about the scapel cut and "dirty" gloves as a further plot line . . good thinking there!

ER just blows anymore IHO, because the storylines are just so damn lame anymore, plus, they only focus on a few pet characters when there are soooo many other loose threads that need to be picked up. What about Weaver covering up the real cause of death of the alderman's lover? or What about Susan Lewis? Did they bring her back for filler or what?? I'm so sick of Abby's family problems I could puke. Carter is turning into a self-absorbed jerk. And last but not least, Let's get a strong nurse character in there!!! It takes more than doctor's to save patients lives. If not for the nurses, many doctor's wouldn't be able to tell their *** from their elbow. Sorry for the rant, but let's get the show back to it's realistic gritty roots. Warrior Woman.
