Anyone unable to drink water???

  1. I just wanted to see if I am alone out there. I never drink water, it makes me gag. I guess because of being tasteless or something... to me it's like trying to eat Crisco or something. It's been literally years since I have had a swallow of water. I drink a ton of sodas (12-18 cans a day, all diet) so I know I am getting plenty of fluids. I have heard many times that I will get kidney infections, bladder infections, etc but have only had one in my life and that was when I was septic. I've tried putting lemon or lime in it, but still simply cannot stand it. Anyone else like me out there?

I worked with a woman like that. (She had a lot of somatic complaints.) Seems so strange to me that I can't relate.

Aren't you worried about all those chemicals in the diet soda and od'ing on those? Moderation in aspartame (sp?) is o.k., but that's excessive and would concern me.

Water gives me heartburn, so I never drink it.

Drinking plenty of water is my probably my strongest, most consistently practiced good health habit. It has to be bottled, though; our municipal water would make anyone gag.

I drink approx. 3L of water daily.
As far as soda, that is certainly NOT good for your system, and although you may be getting the fluid you need, you are certainly NOT getting the correct fluid that your body requires to be in optimum condition.
Try Crystal lite. Different flavors and tastes good!

I love our filtered water at home. I try to drink more---I am terrible about it. I just am never thirsty and it is hard for me to push water when I am not.

My computer guy frequently directs me to snoops.com for some of the "informative" emails I receive. When I read your post it made me think of an email I received not long ago. I drink some water, but not 8 glasses per day. Here's the link: http://www.snopes.com/toxins/water.htm

How about drinking green tea or watered down tea...I love ice tea!

I used to be that way. I finally had to MAKE myself drink it.

I made lemonade in water bottles to train myself, and eventually left the lemonade and sweetener out.

I have to have bottled water though. We even have a filtered water dispenser on our fridge. Still can't stand it.

I guess it's a mental thing with the bottle. lol

If I drank this many sodas a day, I'd be full of kidney stones for sure.
Now, you know water best for you. I can't imagine not liking it. I think you are somwhat addicted to these sodas. Could you try not drinking them for a while? Or maybe in your case, weaning off of them.
Oh and your urine should be near clear to indicate you are getting enough water. I just don't see how you do it.

I agree, a look at people's BUN/CR does not show chronic dehydration. Some myths persist.

Water does not stifle my hunger not one bit either. I don't understand that part, how people fool themselves into being full with water.

I think though water is the best detoxifier, cleanser and great for the complexion and I let my body be my guide and I drink a lot of it naturally. I always have.

I used to hate drinking plain water, but three bouts with kidney stones have changed that for sure! I still drink some caffeinated beverages, but mostly it's either Crystal Light or good old-fashioned H2O (with lots of ice, of course). I always drink at least one and sometimes as much as two liters of fluids at work, and then I'm always hitting the fridge at home for milk, buttermilk, and the occasional Diet Coke. My urologist once told me to make a habit of drinking a glass of water after going to the bathroom, and water is the first thing I think of whenever I'm actually thirsty, which is pretty often so I get a good amount that way.

I share the same concern as Tweety. I would definitely try crystal lite or sun tea and cut back on the diet soda. Lemon water is also great. Have you tried the flavored water? It is very good you can get it flavored without sugar/sweetner or with.
