Anyone see Chicago? Wanna share?

  1. Welp, we're FINALLY going to use the dinner and movie gift cards my daughter and SIL gave us for Christmas.

    Decided to see "Chicago" tonight.

    (Still think Richard Gere's a hottie )

Anyone see it? What'd you think?

I've given so many reviews on other threads, how did you miss me?? So here is a short one...I have seen it 4 times...once a week for four consecutive weeks and am considering a 5th.

It was described in the newspaper as ""the movie of the decade"". And I agree. Up for 13 academy awards...the same # of nominations as Titanic... Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta Jones are dueling for best actress... I think...both were nominated for this movie... Gere is fantastic,...and I'm not even crazy about him...in this movie..."What's not to love?" He is adorable....perfect...
Queen Latifah as the warden, sings only one number,...she is in a role as "the last of the RED-HOT MAMA's". It is the opening number and it's HOT !!
Lots of t and a for the men !!
Okay for the kids..... Zeta Jones has a background in singing and dancing instruction. Renee does not. She learned on the set. All stars do their own singing....
You will like it... and even better the 2nd viewing....You'll see 200 things you didn't see in the first go-around.. It moves fast....90 minutes...

I haven't seen it~but my mom was just here and saw it last night. Said it was "the best she's seen in a long time"...

    Have fun!

Thanks! I don't go to movies very often, as you may've guessed.

We're leaving and will stop back with a brief review.

It was ok. I don't think I'll rent it when it comes out on video. I really don't care for Zellweger, although she did play a good role. I think maybe I just didn't like her character, kind of whiny. I also got tired of them stopping the story for all the singing and dancing. I mean, I like musicals, but the musical parts in it seemed a little out of place.

I went to see it with my mom, and we both agreed that it was a good movie, but kind of weird, and not something we'd want to see again.

You'll enjoy it. Chicago is my favorite musical bar none, and although I am more of a theatre buff than movie lover, it is well done. Even tho they left out some of the tunes. Moves quickly..

LOL!!! I know it's a musical. But for some reason, I didn't care for it too much. I think I'd rather see it on stage.

Thanks for the review, I was just thinking today that I would call my sister and see if she wanted to go see it. Last movie I saw was "Air Force One" (and that was with a nursing infant with me)I don't get out much. Don't think hubby would like the movie (Air Force One was his choice, huh). If my sister and I go we can drool in our popcorn over Richard Gere. I never liked him as a younger man but BOY did he age well.

    Thanks for your replies!!

Fantastic musical! Yes, it did move well, and yes, I'd rather see it onstage!

I especially liked the cinematography and the way the cameras captured the various scenes with different techniques. Pure Artistry!
