Anyone interested in a prayer thread?

  1. This just came to me tonight. I've read alot of threads where people are having health, family problems, etc. I thought it would be nice to start ONE thread where people can ask for thoughts and prayers for anything. Personally, it doesn't matter to me a person's religion. I think every religion believes in prayer. And this thread wouldn't be just about saying a prayer for someone. I often find myself thinking about someone throughout the day that has posted a problem.

I do have doubts about starting this in the Break Room because non premium members wouldn't be able to post but I know I'd get moved if I started it in Gen. Nursing.

If you're interested, please start to post! I don't care if you want me to pray for your dog or pray that your hair stops falling out. We all have problems and issues.

I think its a wonderful idea. I will faithfully (no pun intended!) keep all requests in my prayers.

    My prayer list:

My little nephew. His mom (my sister) is a prescription drug addict and he's only 5 years old. I love him so much, but 8 months ago when my sister was mad because I wouldn't get a narcotic scrip in my name to give to her, we got in a huge fight. She did somethign horrible to get back at me- she told my nephew I had died in a car crash. She then delighted in telling me how much he cried. She knew how it would destroy me inside. I haven't seen him or talked to him since- I am afraid that if he finds out I am alive he would not be able to handle it and it would hurt him even more. But I love him, and I pray for him too.

My grandma. She has been doing well after treatment for an acoustic neuroma (brain tumor) and her MRI is today to see if the treatments have worked. I know how scared she is.

The son of one of my coworkers. He has been diagnosed with Leukemia, and he is only six. He doesn't understand why he is so sick.

Bethin, what is your prayer list? Thank you for thinking of this thread. I will read it daily- maybe we could get it to be made a Sticky??? Maybe if more people want it to be one?

I think we've done this before. There's lots of praying folks here so you shouldn't have hesitated. (There's probably a thread buried somewhere "We Are Christian Nurses).

For those praying folks, please pray for my sister. She just this past year has gotten over some severe depression/suicide attempts, bipolar issues from the year prior. She now has a steady job in insurance after quitting nursing (she lost her license). Her 16 year old daughter is pregant. Please pray for her and her daughter. I'm worried at what the stress is going to do to my sister.

My parents could use a prayer as well.

    Thanks.

Prayers for Lori, Tweety and their friends and family--Done, done, and done.

I'm definitely interested in being a part of this thread! I promise to check it every time I'm on.

If I can request a prayer:

The only school I'm applying to is Johns Hopkins. Not because I'm so sure I'll get in or think everywhere else sucks, but it's my dream. I took months researching schools when I decided to finally go after nursing. JHU's been all I've wanted for years. Well, the application's been in since November 1 and Early Decision applicants find out December 15. I'm almost certifiable right now. I just keep thinking of how little chance I have. So I know there are more important things in life, and I'm already blessed with health, family, friends, shelter, but please please say a prayer for me?

Also, a friend of mine from a hockey message board lost his girlfriend two days ago--she passed away in his arms of an unknown clot. They haven't told her two-year old son yet. He just thinks "mommy is in the hospital because she's very sick."

Thanks guys, and I look forward to getting to know everyone involved!

great idea bethin! i'll surely read this thread and pray for those prayer requests posted. what are your own prayer requests or prayers of praise, bethin?

lori, jess, turd, tweety, deb, peachy...my prayers have been spoken for your requests -- both spoken and unspoken requests -- and i shall remember them each day. :icon_hug:

my own prayer requests is deliverance from the financial poverty i've been suffering in since july 2004. my income tax form won't have much of an income on it this tax season, so i guess i won't owe at least. :uhoh21: but...i am tired of being financially strapped. i'm basically homeless, won't have christmas this year for my grandbabies or anyone else i usually love to give gifts to; got divorced in september; been out of work a very long time, feeling stressed about a wayward daughter, and so forth.

Fantastic idea especially for all the newcomers like myself that were not participants in the old thread...good to have a fresh thread with current prayer requests as everyone needs God's mercy and I fully believe in the power of prayer.

I will be happy to keep all the above and following posters in my thoughts and prayers.

Please pray for my hubby's safe return, who will be leaving Iraq tommorrow en route to the US. Let us find it easy to reconnect after 18mos of seperation. That our families will be more understanding of our time alone and quit interfering in our marriage...especially during the holidays. That he will be allowed to come home once he reaches the US and before his promotion school begins, if only for one night.

Please pray for my sanity, as I begin working more to make ends meat, prepare for finals, and try to avoid digging myself in a hole of debt due to the temptation of Christmas Shopping!!! I have chronic gift-giver syndrome and hate to leave anyone out. This year we have decided not to buy ANYTHING for anyone.......so I will be struggling with the temptation.

Love to all. May God bless you and yours.

I have prayed over every one of you and your needs... and I will keep reading this list daily. I think we should also add updates when our prayers are answered, maybe with a link to the post in which we first asked about the situation it involves? I think it would be very uplifting.

Excellent idea. Just when I get through moaning about how badly things are for me personally and financially, I read Cheerfuldoer's post. I have nothing to complain about. God bless you, my dear.

Prayers also go out to my cousin and his family. My late father's remaining surviving sister (my aunt), passed away on Tuesday at the age of 86 from complications of a fractured hip and femur.
