Anyone else have a gazillion crickets in their house this time of year??

  1. Never seems to fail that in late August until October I have a ton of crickets chirping away at all hours of the night. Keeps the mutt amused. She stalks them and then rolls on them till they are maimed or dead. I keep finding cricket corpses all over the place. Happened in my old house too? Is it just a mid-Atlantic/Northeast thing? Any suggestions on keeping them out! (not that I would want to ruin the little killers fun!!!)

Well I have the millipedes and they keep the cats very amused! I'm glad they're amused b/c I think they're disgusting! In the spring and right about halloween time it's the ladybugs. I don't mind them too much.

Yeah, I think I'd take the crickets, although ants are a lot quieter!

ugh...we had a horrible infestation around here with these pseudoladybugs....asian crossdressing bugs..heehee...no seriously, they were not lady bugs, but to a nonentomologist they looked like them...anyway, turned out, they were these bugs from asia that had been imported to take care of some purple flowery weed that was taking over the roadsides....and them theyran out of food and took over homes, golfcourse, offices...don't knwo how they get in..had clients who had to vacuum bid to clean up the carcasses...they'd be hanging out in swarms on sides of houses..it was eerie....

All we ever find in our house is the legs of the crickets. With 3 cats roaming all night I feel sorry for any crawly thing that gets in.
You would think we never feed them. They are always supplementing their diet with the bugs that wander in.

At my house right now it is flying ants, not in the house but all over the outside. It actually looks like it is snowing flying ants, they just fall out of the trees! My roof and my driveway look like they are alive!! Happens every September.

Only a few crickets, but they don't live ong with the cats and dgs around. Mostly, I have had ANTS. ANTs. and MORE ANTS! They're the little bitty ones that come marching in from the corner of a window or door three abreast, up a wall, across the ceiling, down a wall, across the floor, up onto a counter, etc, until the trail ends in the cats' food! I've come home from work several times recently to find this 20 foot long trail of ants! Yikes!
