Anybody watching ER??? (West coast should ignore for now...)

  1. What the HELL just happened??????

I mean, wouldn't a vent ALARM when turned off??? Ours do. When we extubate someone it's lucky we don't scare the hell out of them and make them stop breathing!!

I am all for the walkout though.

Loved the way the first way they decide to save money is to lay off senior nurses and replace with new grads. Niiiice.

Can't believe Chen and Pratt are going to get together. Ugh. He is so obnoxious, I can't imagine why she seems to find him charming. Galant is so much cuter! (In the promos for next week, looks like Galant punches Pratt. Woot! Yes!)

I was wondering "Where are the nurses" beside AbbY?? They have practically written then out of the show this season and that is a MISTAKE. Where's the new RN CLinical Manager---inquiring minds want to know. Too much focus on only part of team.

WHY did the Mom allow intubation of son with Huntington's in the first place my husband kept asking me. Told him some families just have to work through their feelings but gut told me they would have done CPAP and not intubate this man.
Where was Social Service /Chaplin/pastoral care to offer support to this family?

Decubitus were very real---wonder if that footage was shot on real person and added in.

First time I've ever sat down and watched the show. Lucky my hubby even lets me go back to work today .

I loved the way she hit him with 400 mg - classic.

Lay off senior nurses - grrrrr.

I don't think I'll watch again - too irritating (maybe a little too real...)

    ANother thing:

Where do ER physicans have CONTROL over NURSING budgets to be able to layoff THREE RN's ???? This type of physican control was wrestled away about 25 years ago.

Could this be for resurgence of RN story line or a way to DIMINISH those cast members in RN roles.
FEEL letter campaign to writers/producers coming on.

In Philly area, waiting rooms ALL behind passworded door to Main ER nursing station area/treatment section for safety's sake.

Like I said in another thread, I don't think they're trying to portray that Carter has control of the nurses. I think they're trying to portray that Carrie is being a b*tch and throwing her power around and punishing Carter for his behavior (Y'all know who's probably a senior nurse don't you???) Of course, I don't think Carrie would have that responsibility either, firing nurses.

I think they do a good job of portraying as much of what happens to the degree that a general audience can understand. I think if it was a completely realistic show and really portrayed what we go through, the audience would be either bored, or flabbergasted at the crap nurses have to put up with.

I guess I'm just not offended because I realize it's just entertainment, and has limitations in terms of how realistically it can truly represent the medical profession.

As suggested in the thread in General Nursing Discussion, if this issue with the nurses on ER upsets you enough, then write NBC and TELL THEM THIS! It's a good way to be heard and feel better if you are angry. Otherwise, I am in the group that considers it TV (and not very good at that these days) and write it off as such.

Does anybody know what happened to Dr. Anspaugh (sp?) I've noticed as well about abby being the only nurse. They mention chuni and helane (sp) but it's not how it used to be.
