Anybody ski?

  1. I want to ski! I've never been and the thought of DH and I rolling down a ski slope at 100mph just tickles me. Anyway, I can rent the equipment, but clothes-wise what do I need and where can I get it cheap?

    OMG I love skiing!!!!!

Unfortunately..dear husbands job transfered us from Texas. No more skiing for me. *sobs*

Now where I skiied it was very cold in the winters. I wore:

A long sleeve Tshirt, a heavy vest, a winter coat with hood. I wore a warm hat, and a scarf around my neck or to cover my face. You can wear goggles, but I never did.

You will need a pair of snow pants or some long johns with a pair of sweat pants or similar over the long johns. You will also need a good pair of gloves (meaning thick, not those thin little things). Preferably they should be waterproof gloves. I also recommend thick socks

Now when I used to go skiing at the end of the season (Feb/March) I could get away with wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants with items underneath.

At the coldest point in the season you best bundle up tightly!! I went skiing with a friend one time and after each run down the hill, we had to go sit inside and warm up for 20 minutes, then take another run down the hill and go sit back inside. (That time was just tooo cold!)

You'll rent the skis, boots, and poles. And by the way, you dont have to go down a hill @ 100MPH, but you can if you want too! I never did. I went medium speed, I was too chicken to shoot straight down the hill.

I hope you like skiing! Its so much fun, and I envy you greatly right now!!
By the way, what state are you going skiing in?

    Yep, and I love it!!

I wasn't able to go last year because I had just started working and just never made it up there. Haven't gone yet this season, but I hope too!

I always just dress in layers.

    I hope you have fun!
