Anybody read "The Gunslinger"?

  1. Anyone like Steven King's novel, "The Dark Tower: the Gunslinger". That book was published a year after I was born and ever since I was a kid, I've seen it lying around my sister's room, then on her bookshelf. I never read Steven King books as I was growing up except for "Firestarter" but she was a big fan. I thought all King wrote was pure horror stories because of all the movies people make that I've seen over the years (ie. The Shining, It, ect)

Anyway, so I pick up the book and I can't put it back down until I'm at the last page where he wakes up 10 years older and the man in black is a skeleton. I can't believe King started writing this while he was still in college! This is such a good book! So mythical and historical... Geez... I go to the book store and find out that there are like 6 or 7 series of the Dark Tower! Oh man, I have to go read them all now to find out what happens...

I just finished Book VI of The Dark Tower series, and am waiting for Book VII, which will be the final book in the series. Since Stephen King was born in 1947, I am closer to his age than to yours. I have read all of his short story collections, but only some of his novels, as I prefer short stories to novels.

I have read all of Stephen King's books. The Dark Tower series of his is one of my favorite King thing, if not the favorite. The Tower series will draw you in unlike any of his other books. The Stand has been my favorite for years, until the Gunslinger came along and introduced me to the Dark Tower. Interesting how so many of his other books are intertwined with this series. If you are looking for some others to read that are related, I recommend The Stand, The Talisman and Black House. There are others that touch upon Roland and the Tower, but if you are like me, I am sure you are trying to read all of the Tower books...ENJOY!!!
