Anybody like to run as a stress reliever?

  1. I have been running for about 10 years, no great distances, just 3-5 miles per day about 5 days a week. I notice I sleep better and have more energy when I work up a good sweat! Has anybody ran in a marathon? I have 3 friends that have trained and ran in them (all nurses!) but I have no desire to go that far! I do enjoy little 5K fun runs, especially when I run low on t-shirts! Just wondering if anybody else finds running a great relaxer? I am addicted!

Use to run, now I walk for exercise. I find both to be relaxing and good stress reducers.

ONLY 2 REASONS IN LIFE TO RUN:

1: SOMEONE BIGGER THAN YOU IS CHASING YOU AND YOU DON'T HAVE A GUN.

2: (AND THE MOST IMPORTANT) THE ICE CREAM TRUCK IS DOWN THE STREET AND PULLING AWAY......(wait mister i got my dollarrrrrrrrr.....................)

Actually i have been doing 2-3 miles 3-4 times a week for about 5 years. I don't actually look forward to it, but I love the way i feel afterwards, It is actually very stress relieving. I would like to get a little faster etc, but fornow, I'm sticking with the small distances..... :roll

YES!! I love running! I've been doing 20-25 miles/week for the past few weeks. Nothing has ever gotten me in shape like running. Before nursing school I was doing 6.5 miles in an hour 5 times a week, then got complacent in nsg school and would get shin splints after 5 minutes for a month every time I tried to pick it back up. Now, since I'm running up and down the halls all day long, it's easy to pop in and out of doing some good milage.

I used to run pretty regularly...did the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon my freshman and sophomore years of college. Then my junior, senior, and this year, I've had bf/me/best friend graduating from college on the same day, so couldn't do it...next year I will do it again!
I've been trying to get better about working out/eating healthy lately...have been losing some of those nsg school pounds!

I am also a 2-3 miler 3-4 times a week. My hips and lower back actually start to ache if I don't go. Really great stress reliever!

    Clarice,
I had to work a marathon of days and didn't get to do any running and have been having all sorts of muscle aches, I thought I must be just old. I'm on my way out the door right now to run, thanks for your tip about aches....
