Any one else getting this particular pop-up?

  1. Keep on getting this pop-up asking me to connect to:

    w w w.livepencil. com

    When visiting "Allnurses.com"

And asking for my userID and Password.

I was getting when using my work's computer. Now I'm getting this when using my home computer.

    Not good.

    Ted

    P. S. I'm hoping it's not some kind of wierd spam virus.

I've been getting that, too. (Can't say it's related to a specific thread - hadn't even noticed if it was here as I often have more than one window open.)

Also the "Wish Me Luck" thread!

A lot of times, when you visit a site (no particular one intended) things are downloaded without your knowledge. Or, if you use any of the top MP3 search programs, most all come with some type of spyware.
I found a small program that will clean out the spyware as often as I want.
    Spybot search and destroy

You can check the list of items to "clean" and it will remove them.
I have been amazed at the number of things that are "picked up" while surfing.

Uh-oh !!! Know what? I may be the culprit, here, but beats me as to why....

I subscribe to Livepencil, which is a really cool site where I get all my graphics, smileys, and animations.. these threads you mentioned are ones in which I used those smileys and the singing tiger in the "music" thread...

But why would they affect your computers? Unless somehow they automatically dwn.load as mentioned above... I'll have to check into it and see what gives... may take awhile to get a response, though. No, it's not spam, not a virus, and it's a very legitimate site... their stuff also downloads to incredimail as it is intended to do... see what I can find out..

    Sorry guys ! :imbar

Thanx for the link, Betts ! Kool.

But in this case, I don't believe it's an ad thing.. I believe somehow my "livepencil" site is mistaking those readers as subscribers or sth., .. especially since it's asking for a password. There's some kind of cyberquirk taking place... I'll look into it. I'm thinking maybe because I did the IMG (as in copy the "properties") on the page... maybe with this paticualr subscription site I'm not supposed to do that or sth., but simply download it the way I do onto incredimail... maybe that's what screwed it up.. I don't know for sure. Will try to check it out.

The dove with the peace symbol is from live pencil. I looked at the site, but havent gotten the popup. I use Popup Stopper (free mode) and rarely if ever get any popups. I think they charge for it now though.

Anytime you visit a site, that site places a 'Cookie' into your computer which are/is also considered 'Spyware'. The 'Cookie' can/may contain anything including; their sign in/on, password, popups, etc...

We use pop-up killer. Sometimes it's a pain though. We try to open another window and it kills it too. But I don't get ads popping up on me all the time.
