I live about one hour's drive away from Lake George. It's a nice place for a vacation. Plenty of "tourist trap" type stuff. The summer season is very busy. My wife and I, if we go to Lake George, usually go in the fall when all the people are away. We don't like crowds.

There's lots to do in Lake George, but it is crowded in the summer time.

The biggest attraction, besides the lake, is "The Great Escape". There's lots to do there: water-slides, roller-coasters, etc. But it is quite crowded in the summer. . . . (did I say that already???)

I don't know much about the camp grounds there, though. Sorry.

Is the Great Escape now Six Flags? I haven't been there in so long. I do remember that there are campsites close to the grounds. I remember a very woody drive through. I do remember that there being a lot to do around there and that you will have a great time. There is a lot of cool putt-putt places. Have fun

I think it's still called "The Great Escape" that's owned by Six Flags????? I could be wrong, though. Haven't been there in a few years.

Six Flags ... Lake George same thing. My best advice if you hate to find your stomach somewhere on your feet is to stay away from the BOOMERANG. God, how I hated that ride. You start out being loaded and then the thing drags the car backwards up this huge incline then lets go as you do loop de loops and then when you get to the other side, you think it is over. NO. THen it is time to go backwards. As for the water park. Just remember that upper New York isn't always warm. Hope your kids have fun.

If you're any where NEAR the Adirondacks , don't forget your
"DEET" bug spray. The black flies are torture!

There are islands on Lake George that are nice to camp on if you have a boat.
    Hope ya'll have a smashing good time!!!:roll
