..I'll try to get the link to work.

Apparently she didn't have a permit to protest, which is required.

It might have been a peaceful demonstration..although some of the speakers were filled with hate.

    Ain't that just grand?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
What was I thinking? I'd forgotten that to petition the Government, I need it's permission first.

    Silly me.

    1. Not "might". "Was"

U.S. Park Police spokesman Sgt. Scott R. Fear said, "it's a peaceful demonstration. We are going to take our time arresting them."
    2. Hate speech isn't illegal.

And what would be the goal of perpetuating hate?..even though hateful speech is legal. Is anything going to change? I believe the protestors were rallying for withdrawal from Iraq..being hateful and calling a President names doesn't get one very far I would imagine. Perhaps the protestors should be rallying their congressmen to end US military..we would have no troops to send anywhere. Just think what we could do with the military budget.

That's not the point. It isn't illegal - as such, I'd like to know under what grounds was she arrested (which you happily pointed out later was "Civil Disobedience").

Well I suppose some doyens of high thought and morality such as Ms. Coulter and her ilk seem to think that hatespeech is helpful in advancing certain agendas.

    *shrug*

I would imagine as well. Kinda analogous to our TOS right? We can shoot opinions, not the poster. I wish people would practice this in real life as well....

What does this have to do with anything?

How many of the protestors are even petitioning the Govt. to end the operations in Afghanistan?

How many times must people refute the same, tired old argument of "If you don't support the war, you don't support the troops" ?

    Well Tim,

For someone who ought to have had only 15 minutes of her fame, by your own adminssion, she's onto something then... right?

Well let me posit that the reason she was arrested was because she wanted to be arrested to get the attention.

At this point, the lady is seriously overreaching on the 'poor grieving mother' routine. I can't respect someone so willing to use her son's death as a political schtick.

    He deserves better.
