Another pet......

  1. I was sitting at my computer and here comes my son all of 17 y/o in the front door...with another kitten, 8 weeks old. I have three cats now! "I'll take care of him!" he says. I could have crowned him!!!!!! "You're getting him fixed!" "How's he going to get into that big cat box???" "He needs kitten food...and you're buying it!" He's adorable, but...How do you introduce a kitten to two other cats????? The one already hissed at the poor little thing. God help me...please?????

Oh you poor thing, I just love my pets but they are a big responsibility that kids just can't grasp. Kids only see how cute or how cool it is, they never think about feeding, housing, vet bills, etc... Oh well; just enjoy you little kitty.

Just let them grow to eachother. I went through this with my two cats. The first time my kitten met the older one, the older one hissed and flew down the stairs!! But just watch the cats together, don't let the little one be by itself w/ the older ones. Eventually they should get used to eachother.

    I hope....
He's using the little kitty box thank God, but the one cat went up stairs at 7pm and he hasn't come down since. I think he's traumatized. Oh well, he'll get over it. The other one ran in the basement and that was the end of her. The kitten is having a ball running, and running. Grabbed a plastic shopping bag and ran with it and is into everything...he's a badazz kitty!

Vettech, where are you??? Need kitty socialization suggestions. One of my older cats never did get over our having children, let alone adopting three orphan kittens three years ago!! The cat still hides under the bed when ANY of them come around. Has to have her own catbox, have the door closed to the bedroom to give her a chance to come out (she's declawed, the younger ones aren't, so we didn't think it was fair to her to pit her against them) to eat, drink and pee/poop.
We love our kittens/cats!! Good luck to you, nightowl!

good luck. my 11 year old persian has never learned to play nice w/new pets. after 3 years, she still hisses and spits at our golden retriever, whom we brought here all that time ago. 3 years...she is not over it yet. hope your course goes better than ours has.

My cats are regular domesticated cats, nothing pedigree. I did have a Himalayan for 11 years that someone gave to me, but she died and then I got the two I have now. One is pure white and the other is grey. The kitten is black with white paws and a white snout. I have to laugh b/c the other two are hiding from this little frisky thing who slept with me all night long. I was so afraid I'd roll over on it or something. I guess they'll come out of hiding sometime I hope.

Good luck with the kitties. I'm having the same problems, except it is with parrots. I had one for 9 years and I bring home the sweetest little dove.. she a cuddler... and my big boy hates us both right now!

    I have 1 cat and 4 dogs.
They all mostly get along even sleep together when it gets cold.
This will be the kitties first winter so she will have to cuddle with the dogs when the snow flies.
