Annoying Phone Calls

  1. Who is sick and tired of all those annoying telephone calls?

I have hung up on legitimate calls, I have placed my number on the "Do Not Call" list and receive two phone calls from telemarketers. I told them both that my number is on the "Do Not Call" list, and if they call me again, I will report them. I also receive robotic calls.

I reported all of this activity to my local senator's office today, because I am so tired of receiving them when I'm in the shower, when I'm eating a meal, when I'm busy performing other tasks, etc etc.

I live in a senior housing apartment building, and I talked to a fellow resident who told me two days ago she had to get away from her apartment for a while so she didn't have to listen to those annoying calls.

People who know me know that I am a friendly person who loves people, and who has a positive, humorous personality, but those things make me grouchy at times. Then I have to make myself all calm again, because the Bible mentions not to go to sleep angry.

I screen my calls and do not answer if I don't recognize the number. That goes for both my cell and land lines.

I don't have a land line. Most cell calls go to voice mail unless 1) I know who is calling and/or 2) I want to talk with someone.

With a land line an answering machine let's you listen if someone is leaving a message. I never answer unless it is family.
Once a day I listen to messages and respond only to those I want to talk to.
I once bought vitamins on line. A man from that company leaves a message every week giving his number so he can get credit for what I buy. I never answer. Those calls are who I won't reorder from them.

We do the same. The answering aspect of the landline is on so we can hear who it is as they leave a message, but 9 x out of 10 they hang up w/o talking.
I made the mistake of looking for lower mortgage rates and payments online. Now I send multiple posts to SPAM and they also call on the landline and rue the day I got curious about other mortgage possibilities. VULTURES!
I have begun getting robo calls re other things, now, on my cell, which really ticks me off.
If I do happen to answer one of those annoying calls, I am very good at slapping my flip-phone shut before 3-4 words are spoken.
The world is so intrusive these days!

I have gotten suspicious calls from someone telling me that a warrant has been issued for my arrest due to non-payment to the IRS. I always report these. One fellow, I think he said his name was Kevin, but he had a Southeast Asian accent, and told me the constables were on the way to my house. Uh, dude, wrong country for "constables".

My son enjoys leading them on, to the point that they cuss him out and hang up on him.

Oh, my husband likes to do that, too!
"Go ahead and send the police! I know all of them, because I'm a policeman, too!"

My favorite one was a woman who called claiming to be with the United States Treasury Dept.....I had to horse-laugh, because it was on a Sunday! I said "Do you honestly expect me to believe that the US Treasury personnel work on a SUNDAY?!"

And some guy saying my educational loan payment was overdue. YUH right! Like I'm in college, huh? I don't think so!

I think everyone hates those kind of calls. I personally have blocked maybe hundreds of those numbers. Blocking them is maybe the only way we could do to these scammers. If the callers are coming from legitimate businesses, we have another options, like suing them if they keep harassing us with phone calls. I read about this at

I make my voice really deep, then tell them, "I'm on national Do Not Call list, and if I hear from you again, I WILL REPORT YOU!"

    This is my technique too.

I don't understand what is so upsetting. Like PP BCgrad, I either answer the phone if I recognize the voice or the screen. Or I don't. And I have the 2 lines too.

Everyday I get at least 3 or more phone calls offering me some opp'ty to 'reduce my electric bill rates 16 to 23 percent yada yada yada'. And I get a good dozen or more phone calls that just click off when they recognize I've a machine to answer.

It just DOES NOT bother me.

Well it does bother me, because I'm at home most of the time. I don't have any personal transportation anymore, I get around in a motorized chair, and I am confined to home most of the time. I have stopped going to most activities, because therecliques and numerous gossips I don't want to be around so I stay at home with my computer and my TV. I can't get any peace when that confounded telephone rings numerous times a day. I haVE GOTTEN SOI HATE TO HEAR IT RING.

Speaking of phones, did you all know that 3ringnursing works as a telephone triage nurse?
