And the winner is........(Oscars)

  1. Million Dollar Baby won Best Picture, best actress for Hillary Swank, best supporting actor for Morgan Freeman (finally getting his due as an actor) and best director for Clint Eastwood.

Jamie Foxx won for Ray. He gave an emotional speech about his grandmother which was sweet.

Kate Blanchett finally got her due as an actress winning supporting actress.

I only caught the last 30 minutes of the show, I didn't want to sit through the whole thing.

I'm so behind on movies, but I'll definately be seeing Million Dollar Baby

Me too. But just to forewarn you, Tweety.........I hear it has a sad ending.

I'm glad it won, as did Hilary Swank for Best Actress. I guess quality never quite goes out of style.

I watched the entire show while doing my laundry. I was getting worried there for awhile because Jamie hadn't been called yet for his Oscar. Then right at the end........it happened.......YEAHHHHHHH JAMIE FOXX...you go dude!!! :hatparty: His grandmother raised him, and having had a sweet gramma myself once upon a time, I got a little teary eyed as he spoke of her.

I want to see "Million Dollar Baby", too. I like Clint and Morgan...both fine actors.

I saw Million Dollar Baby just yesterday ..... great movie, and definitely great acting in Swank, Freeman, and Eastwood ..... all rightfully deserved wins!!

I've been halfway watching the Barbara Walters special, and he is one of the guests being interviewed. He said his Gramma was "meeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnn!" She "made" him practice his piano long hours. "Gramma," he'd say, " the neighbor kids are going to the park to play."
"Oh really?" she'd reply. "You're not."
    or,
"Gramma, so-and-so is going to Six Flags!"
    "Oh? YOU'RE not."
But he knew she loved him fiercely. Apparently she passed away just as "Ray" was premiering in theaters. I'm sure he thinks of her A LOT. Several family members live with him (half-sisters and step-dad). He seems like a decent guy; I congratulate him on his award.

SOMETIME I would like to see Johnny Depp FINALLY win a tangible recognition for his outstanding talents. SOMETIME.

Ah, but we speak of Hollywood. He'll probably get some lifetime achievement award when he's pushin' 80.

Speaking of which, it was great to see Clint Eastwood win best director award, and give honor to his 96-year-old Mom, who was in the audience!! And then he cracked some line about him being in the geriatric crowd of a lot of those who worked on "Million Dollar Baby." Funny.

Did NOT care for Hilary Swank's gown. Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansen (sp?) looked great (Portman is SO petite!!), as the occasion required, and most of the presenters looked very elegant. Didn't care for Chris Rock as well as other hosts, sorry to say. Just didn't "click" with me. But, hey, it's not up to "me!" Bwahahahaha!!

Very happy about Morgan Freeman, Jamie Foxx, and Clint Eastwood for director and best movie! I did see Million Dollar Baby, and they all deserved it. Also saw Ray and I forgot it was Jamie Foxx within the first five minutes...that is a good performance when someone can do that.

Yes Tweety, you must see Million Dollar Baby. The movie takes a dramatic, unexpected turn in the middle and it does become a tear jerker!!

The performances for the songs were very good too. Biance and Josh Grobin were wonderful with their duet. Chris Rock was good but not great. Overall, good show tonight.

I will join the crowd that wants to see "Million Dollar Baby". I also want to see "Maria Full of Grace" with the young Colombian actress who got nominated for Best Actress. I have heard it was good... has anyone seen it? Or the "Motorcycle Diaries"? (Can you tell I am trying to enhance my Spanish education through movies? :chuckle )

so happy for jaime foxx he so deserved this. I am not really interested in million dollar baby, but a few of the foreign film nominees caught my eye. Motorcycle diaries and house of flying daggers look interesting, also, i still haven't seen finding neverland or the aviator so when they come out on DVD I'll definitely have something to go rent.

I didn't watch any of it. Now I wish I had.

I haven't seen any of the movies either. But I will.

I saw Maria Full of Grace and it's a very good movie. The young Colombian actress was stunning. I rented it a couple of months ago.

Stayed home last night to watch the Oscars instead of going out to Red Lobster dinner for DH birthday---sons went. My excuse? I'm still sick with URI crud so had bedroom to myself with no interuptions for 4 hours.....

Last night's Oscar's was a classy well produced show from start to finish...best one in years. Chris Rock for first time host was good, kept the show flowing, seemed more in awe of some of the guests than hefting his own weight. Loved Whoppie Goldberg's commentary about Johnny Carson's hosting. Jamie Foxx acting + commentary along with devotion to family just moved him up to star status in my book---right next to Denzell.

yay! austrailia should be proud you've had recent oscar winners and multiple nominations from russell crowe, cate blancett (whom i adore and still feel she was cheated of the oscar the year she did elizabeth), and nicole kidman.

    anyone else?
