Americans Obsessed with Diana

  1. This should in no way offend anybody, but could it be that some americans are obsessed with the late Princess of Wales(Diana)What is going on?The woman is dead just leave at that, this must be very upsetting for her family . I do think this is very unfair.

Couldn't agree more. It is sad to see her rep being dragged through the mud time and time again. She can't defend herself. Anyone can say anything.

Personally, I've always admired Diana, and find her to be a fascinating person.
She seems to have taken her place alongside Marilyn Monroe, Elvis and other very famous and very charismatic people who have died early and tragically.
I pay no attention to muck-rakers out to make a buck off of her.

I think that's true, but it's also true of a lot of other countries including the UK (just look at the tabloids). I don't know why anyone is so fascinated by the British royal family.

I've never been one to follow or obsess over ANY celebrities... royal or otherwise. :stone

I'm with Jnette on this one. I'm not a big celebrity follower, and I frankly don't understand the obsession with Diana whatsoever.

She was young, beautiful, and was a sort of rags to riches story. She had a tough home life and later on married a real life prince. Who doesn't dream of that? But we all know what happened, it was a fairy tale that was never meant to be.

It's very sad that in the end it was her beauty and her magnetism that eventually got her killed.

No, I'm not obsessed with her. Just giving my .02.

I don't think the family want her forgotten. She was wildly popular here in the US. What I'm sure is upsetting to them is the dirt her fellow countrymen keep digging up in the books they write, and that Americans, among many in the world including England are buying up.

Princess Diana will be remembered as a woman who was at once supremely regal and at the same time strikingly human. To the millions who followed her charitable work, she was most certainly the Queen of our hearts, and she will be terribly missed.

It saddens me to see people making money off of Diana. She was a breath of fresh air to the Royal Family.

I had hoped to meet her some day. I did admire her greatly.

I did read the book written by her butler....no, I am not obsessed, just curious about what life is like for others...anyway, was the book truth or a bunch of lies??
